Sabrina Jeffries is a New York Times bestselling author from America, renowned for her contemporary romance novels. The name “Sabrina Jeffries” is actually a pseudonym; she also writes under other pen names, including Deborah Nicholas and Deborah Martin. Sabrina was born in New Orleans, United States, and enjoyed a relatively normal childhood until the age of seven. She then moved to Thailand with her missionary parents and lived there for 11 years, during which she had some truly unforgettable experiences. These included playing in rainforests, undergoing a full rabies vaccination series, and even being chased by baby elephants. Lacking playmates other than her siblings, Sabrina gravitated towards books, immersing herself in everything from comic books and romance novels to classics. By the age of 12, she was already crafting her own stories, mostly romantic tales.
Sabrina pursued her academic passion by obtaining a Ph.D. in English, writing her dissertation on James Joyce. She then worked as a visiting assistant professor at Tulane University, teaching English. While she initially tried to produce academic work based on her dissertation, she soon found the task tedious. She then transitioned to writing romance novels. Over time, she realized that she derived more pleasure from writing than from teaching. This epiphany led her to abandon academia in favor of technical writing. Her initial efforts met with little success; her first ten romance novels were rejected. However, perseverance paid off, and after ten rejections, Leisure Publishing House finally signed her. Since then, she has penned around 50 romance and short fiction novels. Many have achieved national bestseller status. For her historical romance novels, she mainly uses the pseudonyms Deborah Martin and Sabrina Jeffries, while for contemporary paranormal and romantic suspense stories, she adopts the name Deborah Nicholas.
Her illustrious writing career has earned her numerous accolades, including the Maggie, the Holt Medallion Award, and the Best Booksellers’ Award. Sabrina’s works often feature on the USA Today Bestseller list, and some have made their way to the New York Times Bestseller’s list. She mostly writes from her home office. Besides her novels, she’s an active blogger and contributes to the group blogging site, The Goddess Blogs. Due to her family’s varied schedules, she often writes during the night. In her leisure, Sabrina enjoys making jewelry, solving jigsaw puzzles, and of course, reading. She currently resides in Cary, North Carolina, with her husband and their autistic son, Nick.
One of her acclaimed series is ‘The Duke’s Men’, comprising four novels and two novellas, published between 2012 and 2015. The inaugural novel, ‘What the Duke Desires’, released in 2013 by Pocket Books, follows the adventures of Maximilian Cale, the Duke of Lyons, and Lisette Bonnaud. The subsequent novel, ‘When the Rogue Returns’, released in 2014, focuses on Victor Cale and Isabella’s intricate relationship. Sabrina’s intricate plots and captivating narratives have cemented her status as a prominent romance genre author, earning her recognition and accolades throughout her career.
