A. F. (Addy) Whitehouse is a writer and former Sign Language interpreter from Chicago. In 2022, the Chicago Writers Association nominated the first book in her Dana Demeter series (Indie Category) for Book of the Year. She writes full-time since retiring in Waukesha, Wisconsin.

Signs of Murder, the first in the Dana Demeter mystery series, introduces a female Chicago detective who is the only hearing member in her all-deaf family. When a deaf friend of her father’s is murdered, Dana uncovers a lazy cop who is railroading an innocent suspect. Her determination to expose the greed and corruption behind the murder may trigger her own downfall.

In Signs of the Father, the second in the Dana Demeter mystery series, the priest of the deaf congregation implores Dana to uncover the connection between the murder of the church janitor and theft of priceless chalices. The series continues to explore Dana’s struggle with personal and family conflicts threatening her job, marriage, and eventually her life.

(Thanks very much to Addy for writing this – much appreciated!)
