Alison Belsham is a published author.

She first started writing thinking that she wanted to be a screenwriter. In 2002, she got a commendation for her visual storytelling in the Orange Prize for Screenwriting. She was shortlisted in 2001 in a BBC Drama Writer competition. She had children but she changed over to fiction. Her novel Domino was picked in 2009 for the Adventures in Fiction mentoring scheme. She pitched her crime novel The Tattoo Thief at the Pitch Perfect event and won at the Bloody Scotland Crime Writing Festival.

The Tattoo Thief has since been translated into over a dozen languages. It was a top best seller in Italy and is now the first of the Tattoo Thief trilogy, which consists of the second book Her Last Breath and the third book The Embalmer.

Alison also writes with Nick Higgins, her brother. They have written the MacKenzie and Khan series of novels, starting off with Death in Kabul. She is also the solo author of the crime fiction series featuring DI Lexi Bennett, who gets picked to lead the Major Incident Team after working with the specialist serial killer unit in the FBI for some time.

The author splits her time between London and Edinburgh. There she is a co-founder of the Edinburgh Writers’ Forum, providing networking and professional development for writers.
