Amanda Lees is a published author.

She was born in Hong Kong. She was able to go through both a convent boarding school and a Jesuit boys’ school before she was ejected from the latter. She has a thirst for adventure, something that she probably gets from her parents. They met in the jungle in Borneo. Her mother had set up a hospital and her father was likely up to no good as a former Gurkha intelligence officer and a spy who was Oxford educated.

Her parents would decamp to Hong Kong. There her father came up with a business that imported champagne and whiskey. He would sadly pass away when his daughter was three years old, so she didn’t have any time to get to know him better. She thinks that they would have had a similar sense of humor, however.

Her Glaswegian born mother made sure that her daughter not only was able to travel all around the world before the age of ten years old but that she had a passion for different people and cultures. Today Amanda can successfully speak four languages and is currently in the process of learning the Bulgarian language.

The author also has a degree in drama. The first job that she got in television was as a member of the Communist Resistance in ‘Allo ‘Allo. This required running around with a dachshund under her arm while using the best French accent that she has. Ever since then, she recounts that it has all been dramatically downhill.

She has published everything from fiction to nonfiction, such as her WW2 spy thriller series and her nonfiction book about the Zodiac killer.

It is the year 1944 in Nazi-occupied France. Marianne tears open an envelope and takes out from it a sheet of folded paper. She opens it up and reads what it is on it, and her heart ends up breaking with every single word that is on it. There can be no mistaking the name of the guy who betrayed them. It was Jack, the man she was engaged to marry, and now a traitor.

Marianne’s resistance network has been working overtime for months. They have carried out amazing missions based out of a remote farmhouse located in the southern Provence, doing whatever they can to help with the downfall of the Nazis. On one fateful night, they find themselves on the wrong end of it all and are caught up in a horrible ambush.

German soldiers storm into the property, and the people scatter. Some make it out but many are captured and the people that are caught there are killed. Marianne is doing what she can to mourn the loss of her friends, and she is trying to heal up, because she’s going to need very bit of courage that she has to survive.

Her life living as a secret agent has been compromised and her heart has been broken into a million pieces. Jack is the man she was supposed to spend forever with, the fellow spy that she could rely on to eternally be by her side. He has not only fled in the middle of all of this chaos but has even been accused of being the very same traitor who ended up betraying them, if the news about him is to be believed.

Marianne wants nothing more than to believe that Jack is truly innocent. It would make her feel so much better and she would know that the love that they shared together was actually genuine and true. But Marianne is horrified when she finds out that the Nazi known as the Butcher of Lyon has taken him, one who has a reputation for being utterly brutal.

It’s more important than ever that Marianne be able to track down and find Jack. She wants to do this before he ends up giving out the names of every undercover agent in France and jeopardizes them all or before he is killed for being loyal. Either way, it’s up to her to try and track him down and liberate him from his current situation.

Marianne goes out on one of the most dangerous missions that she’s ever been on in her life, and certainly one of the most personal. With fellow female agents by her side, she will put everything on the line in order to save Jack. Can she rescue him before it’s too late– and even change the direction of the war?

Or will she simply find that she is going to sacrifice herself on a fool’s errand? Based on true stories of women secret agents at the time, this first book in the WW2 Resistance series will have you reading until the end to find out what happens!
