Amy Bruni
Amy Bruni, Executive Producer and co-star of “Kindred Spirits”, a hit paranormal series, calls on more than 20 years worth of investigation experience in order to help people reclaim their lives and homes from the mysteries of the unknown.
Amy’s own passion for helping out others comes together with her love for paranormal exploration while she rejoins Adam Berry, her partner in crime, and forms a paranormal powerhouse that’s aimed at helping families in crisis discover answers from the world beyond the veil.
Before “Kindred Spirits”, Amy starred on “Ghost Hunters”, SYFY’s popular program. Amy, who joined the cast in 2008, traveled the country exploring the most haunted of locations in all of America as she worked as the historical researcher for the team in order to identify the long forgotten spirits that they encountered along their travels. After seven exciting years on the show, she exited in order to focus on her growing family and begin “Strange Escapes”, a paranormal travel company of her own.
By the end of season 9, she had gotten tired. She had been leaving her home every week to every other week and the show had become a job for her. A job that she was just not thrilled to be going to any more. Financially and emotionally it had started taken its toll on them. When her daughter took her very first steps was while Amy was away filming and that was a major wake up call for her.
Amy loves investigating and did it well before the cameras rolled on her and she still investigates. So the show, even though it afforded her some amazing friendships, experiences, and the name to keep doing what she does, it just wasn’t feasible for her anymore. She doesn’t regret any of it and it all has led her to everything that she has now, however it was time for her to move on and be home.
Amy’s love of travel combined with her passion for the unknown flourished since she now invites lovers of mystery and travel along to try their hands at investigating some of the most infamous haunts in the country, including the Mt. Washington Hotel, The Stanley Hotel, and The Queen Mary.
Even as she returned to TV with “Kindred Spirits”, she loves keeping busy and active in the paranormal community, continually finding exciting and new haunts for her travel business. She invites those that are looking to experience the unknown and bizarre to join her and the other paranormal celebrity guests at her Strange Escapes throughout the whole year.
On her show, her and Adam’s approach is to go to the haunted locations with empathy and the intent to help both the spirits and the living. They put in hours of research for every location in order to determine who might be there and why they might be sticking around. Ghosts are people too, and they sometimes just need to be heard.
In doing this show, she is able to make her own hours, while also accommodate her family, even bring them along if she is able to. It’s something that she does just a weekend or 2 a month and typically knows well ahead of time what her schedule will be.
In those rare instances that Amy’s able to find a little free time from running her own travel business or investigating, she enjoys scouring antique stores for spiritualist memorabilia, drinking wine, and hitting the beach. Even though she keeps busy, she will never say no to a good ghost hunt, or chardonnay.
Travel and ghosts are the 2 hobbies that she is most passionate about. How fortunate she feels to be able to combine them both together.
She spent her childhood haunting libraries for books written by Hans Holzer as well as other classics of the paranormal.
“Life with the Afterlife: 13 Truths I Learned about Ghosts” is a non-fiction book that was released in 2020. Amy shares her stories from her years of experiences with ghosts, and is organized around 13 truths which guide her approach to the supernatural.
Amy has learned a ton about ghosts through her years of first hand experience and research. Now, in this book, she shares the insights that she has been able to glean and how it’s shaped her unique approach to interacting with the spirits of the dead and those that encounter them.
From some of her earliest supernatural encounters from when she was a kid, through her time on “Ghost Hunters” and the creation of Strange Escapes, which offers up paranormal excursions to some of the most notoriously haunted destinations in America, and into her current work on The Travel Channel’s “Kindred Spirits”, this tome is filled with deeply moving and astonishing tales of Amy’s efforts to better understand the dead but not yet departed. With Amy’s fierce compassion and bright humor for both those that are haunted and those that are doing the haunting, this is an eye opening glimpse at what links us as people, in both life and beyond.
There are quotes from those in the paranormal field to demonstrate the wide range of theories and beliefs which are out there. It’s great that Amy encourages people to find what they believe and without ever allowing other people influence them. What she says about setting the intention going into investigations is also so very true.
Amy does a great job of painting the paranormal in a whole new light, and provides a very honest portrayal of the investigative world of the paranormal. She also captures your attention immediately, and her format of weaving in her paranormal research, show accounts, and personal experience is enjoyable. It gives the book just a bit more personality and is filled with interesting spooky things. The entire book is an interesting take on the paranormal, life, and beyond.
What makes the book so engaging is that it has been infused with her humor and personality. Best part is the excerpts at the end of every chapter that recounts a different ghost hunting experience.
