Auralee Wallace has a Master’s degree in English literature and an undergraduate degree in psychology. She worked in the publishing industry for a number of years before she taught at the college level. Auralee has also worked as a balloon seller.

When this perpetually sleep-deprived mom of three kids and one rescue cat is not busy reading, writing, playing soccer, she can be found watching BBC mysteries and warring with this family of peregrine falcons for the rights to her own backyard. You can also find her pontificating about the Golden Age of Soap Operas.

As soon as Auralee was able to read (age 2, if her overly proud mom’s stories can be believed) she devoured books of fairy tales. Her parents often found her asleep with the bedside light on, book still on her chest, most likely dreaming about cottages in forests, talking animals, bargains gone wrong, and witches. Especially witches.

Auralee loves all kinds of tea. Lemon Ginger is a particular favorite of hers, however if she had to pick just one, it would be Earl Grey.

It’s no surprise that a cozy mystery author would love cats as much as she does, and she has opened up her home and heart to countless rescue felines.

“Sidekick” is the first novel in the “Sidekick in the City” series and was released in 2016. A girl just wants to save the world in this brilliant and hilarious debut that combines “Bridget Jones” and “Heroes”.

Bremy St. James, the daughter of Atticus St. James, has just been cut off from the family fortune and struggles to survive in a world which no longer holds its breath every time she busy a new outfit. Making things worse, her twin sister has been keeping secrets, loan sharks are circling, and the guy of her dreams (a newspaper reporter) is working on an assignment to bring down everybody whose last name is St. James.

Things definitely look pretty bleak for the down-and-out socialite until one good deed throws her into the path of Dark Ryder, the city’s top crime fighter. All of a sudden she’s got a new goal: apprentice with this superhero, and begin crime fighting as her career.

Ryder doesn’t have a need for a sidekick, however it turns out that this city needs Bremy’s aid. Atticus St. James plans the crime of the century, and Bremy might be the only one able to get close enough to her dad to stop him. Now all she needs to do is figure this superhero thing out in under a month, keep her identity a secret from the guy that might just be The One, and save this city from total annihilation. Nobody ever said that being a superhero would ever be easy.

“Skinny Dipping with Murder” is the first novel in the “Otter Lake Mystery” series and was released in 2016. Welcome to Otter Lake, where the restorative and relaxing atmosphere is to die for.

Erica Bloom isn’t in any rush to return to Otter Lake, the site of her mom’s spiritual retreat for women. Erica met her inner goddess years prior and she is happy to have forged a new identity all on her own, thank you very much. However her new-age-y, and well meaning mom is losing her grip on the business, and needs some help from Erica. So she heads on back to her New Hampshire hometown, where nothing much has changed, well except for that body in the well.

When Erica was a teen, she fell prey to this practical joke which left her almost naked in Otter Lake’s annual Raspberry Social. This incident was pretty humiliating, however it was not like anybody was killed, well until now. Those that were behind this long-ago prank are beginning to wind up dead, and Erica’s appearance in town makes her the prime suspect. Making things worse, the town sheriff happens to also be Grady Forrester (Erica’s old nemesis), who just so happens to be hotter than ever. Can Erica really figure a way to dig up the truth before somebody is able to dig her grave?

This first novel in the “Otter Lake Mystery” series is a killer good time.

“In the Company of Witches” is the first novel in the “Evenfall Witches B&B Mystery” series and was released in 2021. A guest dies in the B&B that she helps her aunts run, this young witch must rely on some good old fashioned investigating in order to clear her aunt’s name in the charming and magical cozy mystery.

For four centuries now, the Warren witches have used their magic to quietly help out the citizens of the sleepy little New England town of Evenfall thrive. There has never been an issue that they could not handle. However Constance Graves (this local known for being demanding and argumentative) up and dies while they were staying at the bed and breakfast Brynn Warren maintains with her aunts. And at first, it all seems to be an accident, however it quickly becomes clear that something more sinister is at work, and Aunt Nora is shaping up to be the prime suspect.

There is nothing that Brynn wants more than to prove her innocence, and it hurts her to know that even two years back it may have been simpler. Brynn is a witch of the dead, after all, a witch that is able to commune with ghosts. Ghosts never remember too much about their deaths, however Constance may remember something about her life which would help crack the case. However Brynn has not used her powers ever since her husband died, and is unsure that she even still can. Brynn is just going to have to hope that her aunts’ magic and her own investigative skills are going to lead her to some answers, and possibly back to the gift that she believed herself ready to give up forever.

This is a welcome addition to the magical cozy genre, and was a compelling and fun mystery. It is the perfect blend of mayhem, mystery, and magic.
