Ben Clanton is the author of children’s books and an illustrator. Readers may be familiar with him as the author and the illustrator of the Narwhal and Jelly series of books or other books like the Tater Tales.
He loves to doodle up some stories and when he is not busy doing that, you can find him doing other things that are just as fun. Ben likes to do other things like reading but also drawing, gardening, playing some basketball, or enjoying eating some waffles. He also really likes to explore the outdoors.
Ben is married to his wife and they have kids together. They live in the Seattle, Washington area.
The Greatest in the World! is the first book in the Tater Tales series by Ben Clanton. If you’ve been looking for something that is silly but also very entertaining, this is a great book for you. It’s the perfect way to pass the time and have some giggles, whether reading on your own or sharing the book with a younger reader and reading it together.
Two spud siblings are about to face off against each other and take the other one on through a variety of epic challenges. This is a silly graphic novel chapter book series that offers up a laugh for readers on every page. If you thought that the Narwhal and Jelly books creator had hilarity in store for that series, you’re going to love this potato-based one that doesn’t lose any of the original sense of humor.
In this story, Rot is a mutant potato and he wakes up one day feeling a little different than he normally does. He feels better than usual and is actually feeling really great. He might even be feeling like the greatest in the world!
It’s an interesting premise, but the entire situation is making his brother Snot very grumpy. It’s starting to seem like the best answer for it all is a contest so that they can show off and end up proving in the end who is the greatest once and for all. They’re all going to be judged by an impartial party, Tot, their small fry little sister.
It may seem silly to the reader, but these potatoes are taking things seriously. They end up going through the different trials and the stakes only get higher as they move through the muddy potato sack race, the sacred hot potato roll, and a laughing contest. The more that they do, the more that the rivalry between this pair is getting more out of control.
Rot has decided that he is really not feeling so great after all. Is the potato trio going to be able to figure out who the best in the world is– the greatest there ever was? Or is it just too tough a challenge? Will one of them end up dropping out and conceding the victory to the other? Read this book to find out.
The King of the World! is the second book in the Tater Tales series by Ben Clanton. If you loved the spud filled adventures of the first story in this series, check out this book and see what you think of it and keep all of the potato fun going. Whether you’re a younger reader or an older reader who enjoys books like these, whether you’re buying for yourself or for a friend or someone you care for, you cannot go wrong with these silly tales.
A mutant potato ends up finding out that along with great power you must endure great responsibility. It’s a graphic chapter book series that is not afraid to employ a little humor alongside some classic superhero stuff.
Rot has been through a lot of stuff and now he is ready to take on a new adventure. He’s decided that he is going to go ‘spudlunking’. He is very happy to dig through all of this rot and this muck to find treasure, it appears that the majority of his friends are even more interested in their own plans that they have going on.
Rot finds a shiny old crown and he thinks that it’s really going to change their minds. It does end up doing that, but perhaps not in the way that he expected. Rot likes to put it on and when he wears it, he feels a sense of power. He feels invincible and he feels that he is the King of the World, and everyone around them just has to do what it is that the king says that they have to do.
When Rot figures out that he is actually the only one who is having fun, he has a moment of realization. Has he been letting the crown go to his head and change how he acts and even who he is? What is he going to have to do moving forward to make up for this fact? Can he make up for things and grow from this experience before it’s too late or is this spud in trouble? Read this fun book from Bill Clanton to find out!
