Bryce Moore is a published author who also writes using the pen name Albert Packard.

Moore says that he first started to get serious about writing in 2000 in a BYU class that focused on writing science fiction and fantasy. Bryce recalled that coming up with his own worlds felt addicting, but he still didn’t think that he would ever be good enough to become a published author. He continued to work at it, taking a lot of fiction classes and working on short stories in the meantime.

The author then took a class on writing for children and young adults. The class really resonated with him and from that moment on, he was hooked. Next he met another author in the English Masters program at BYU, Brandon Sanderson.

Sanderson had his first novel releasing in a year and a half and asked Bryce to be in a writing group with him once he heard that Bryce wrote fantasy. He stayed in the group for five years and the two became good friends in the process. Moore wrote several books and started to get serious about getting published. He learned that being published doesn’t mean that you automatically get book contracts indefinitely and kept writing and finishing books. His twenty-first book Death in the Dark was released in 2025.

The author says that he’s sure that the future will hold more ups and downs but ultimately he just loves writing and says he would do it even if he were not paid for it. He writes about what interests him. At the moment, he is working on his love of horror stories and combining it with his love for research.

Bryce attended high school at Council Rock in Newtown, Pennsylvania. He studied English for a year before going to Germany, which opened his eyes as to how different life often was for different people. When he returned, he finished his undergraduate degrees in English and Linguistics and got married. He was a grad school student in English at BYU when his first child arrived, planning to get a PhD and be an English professor. Life had different plans for him so he changed things up and got another masters in Library and Information Science from Florida State.

He graduated in 2007 and then he and his wife moved to Maine, where their second child was born. Since then they have lived there for many more years and they have three children total. When not working in the library or busy writing, Bryce enjoys watching television series, watching movies, reading books, playing board games, playing video games, and collecting and playing Magic the Gathering. He is also an advisor for the MTG club at the university and is active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Any other spare time is spent shoveling snow or fixing up his 1841 farmhouse.

Warren goes through Kansas and as he does, he discovers that he has come to a strange inn that is run by the Benders. They are an odd family and their mannerisms are very unsettling. They take him in while watching every single thing that he does. They stand over him while he’s sleeping and his daughter can see into the past and future.

Warren looks more into the disappearances and as he does, he starts to figure out that all of these missing people may point to one thing responsible– the Benders. Could this be why his father went missing? What will Warren do and what will he find out? Read this book to discover how it ends!

Death in the Dark is a 2025 novel by Bryce Moore. If you love a good suspense thriller, this might be the book for you. A historical mystery with plenty of twists and turns, this is a great selection for a solo read or sharing with a book club.

Several women are discovered dead in their homes in London during The Blitz, it seems pretty clear that there’s a serial killer on the loose. The police can’t investigate because there’s a war on and they don’t have the manpower, so Mary decides to to do it herself. The more that she investigates, the more murders she finds– all strangled women who have been mutilated. Can she find the killer responsible and save countless future lives or will it all be in vain?
