Cara Bastone
Cara Bastone is a full time writer whose goal is to find the swoon in ordinary love stories.
Cara has been a fan of romance ever since she found this grocery bag full of her grandma’s old Harlequin Romances when she was in high school.
Cara is a fangirl for long walks through Prospect Park, pretzel sticks, and love stories that feature men that are not crippled by their own masculinity.
“Call Me Maybe” is the first novel in the “Love Lines” series and was released in 2021. True love is on the line in a laugh out loud and charming romantic comedy.
Pick up the wrong bagel and coffee order. Paint your toes. Drive from Brooklyn to Jersey in traffic that’s so slow that you want to rip your hair out. It is amazing all of the useless things that Vera is able to accomplish while being on hold for three hours with customer service. Three hours when she should really be getting the Date-in-a-Box site ready for its launch at the huge business expo in just a few days.
Except that her shiny new site glitches out, and her inner rage monster is about ready to scorch some earth, once Cal finally answers the phone. Not some robot voice that she expected but Cal, a real live human. He is surprisingly quite helpful and totally knows his stuff, even if he’s just a little bit awkward but in an adorable way.
And she is suddenly flirting with him. And she thinks he is flirting back. And all of a sudden it has been hours, and they are still on the phone talking and ordering one another takeout as he troubleshoots her site. And all of a sudden Cal and Vera are exchanging numbers and sending DMs and texts everyday, leaving each other voice mails (who even does that anymore, anyway). And Vera is all of a sudden wondering if it is even possible for two people to fall in love at first talk.
Because she is falling. Hard.
“Sweet Talk” is the second novel in the “Love Lines” series and was released in 2021. It is officially booty o’clock, Jessie is alone again in her kitchen choking a slice of horrible chocolate cake down, and she is pretty sure that she just got drunk texted by the guy that she has a huge crush on.
For two months now, Jessie has been daydreaming about Eliot Hoffman’s dimples, and even though she’s sure it was a mistake on his part, it does not mean it is not an opportunity on hers. It is the middle of the night, and she only wants to talk with him. So she texts him right back.
Then somehow they continue talking. All night. They are both insomniacs, so talking all night turns into talking every night. And talking about nothing quickly turns into talking about something. And from here they go from in-depth analysis of reality TV to her relationship with her own family, to some of his amazing artwork. There isn’t a single topic that they don’t cover. Except for who she really is. It is the one question she refuses to answer.
While her crush turns into an avalanche of Eliot, she thinks about him all the time now. However if he really knew who she was, the whole house of cards they have built the whole relationship on would come crumbling down. She wants Eliot to be hers, however they may never be more than merely a sweet dream.
“Just a Heartbeat Away” is the first novel in the “Forever Yours” series and was released in 2020. Some people will change your life, while others change your heart.
Sebastian Dorner (newly widowed) was unraveling at the edges, up until Via DeRosa (his son’s teacher) threw a lifeline to him. Two years later, they’ve now reconnected at Matty’s new school, and this unmistakable yet inconvenient jolt of attraction crackles between them. However why does the first person that sparks with Sebastian in a number of years have to be a millennial? Could twenty-something Via really be too young for him or does forty-something Sebastian just feel way too damn old?
Via (a former foster kid) has finally forged the stable life that she has always dreamed about: steady income, new job, and no drama. The very last thing that she needs are rumors about her being with a single dad at school. However why does she always keep being drawn into his worn-flannel and capable orbit? And why does being around Sebastian, Matty, and Crabby (their dog) seem to spark so very much want?
They are attempting to ignore the tension which threatens their friendship. However sometimes what will heal you is merely a touch and a heartbeat away.
“Can’t Help Falling” is the second novel in the “Forever Yours” series and was released in 2020. The more that you resist, the deeper that you will fall.
Serafine St. Romain does not need her psychic powers to know that she is no longer in Tyler Leshuski’s good graces. It’s true that she did indeed rip him to shreds when he asked her out, accusing him of being selfish and shallow. Despite all of the energy that crackles between the two of them, this gorgeous sports writer is a no kids and no strings sort of guy. And Serafine, who was raised in the foster system, intends to be a foster parent herself. She will not compromise that dream, even for a guy that is as annoyingly appealing as Tyler.
In a much simpler world, Tyler would have gotten Serafine out of his system already. For him, women just equal fun. Not this sort of bone-deep and disconcerting desire. Life gets that much more complicated when he becomes the guardian of his much younger sister. All of a sudden, he is well out of his depth. Serafine’s the single person that can connect with Kylie. He cannot jeopardize that for some fling.
However maybe, just maybe, he is finally to risk everything on forever finally.
