Carlene Havel is an American published author.

She is known for writing romance stories and historical novels that are set in Biblical times with Christian themes. She has resided in many different places, from the Republic of the Philippines to Turkey to many different places located all over the United States.

Before turning to writing, like many other authors, Carlene tried her hand at different day jobs. She has worked for many different employers. These include a software development company, a banana importer, and all types of things in between.

Main character Avram has led a simple life. He has spent his time raising sheep, working in the hills that make up Bethlehem, a place he has known all his existence. He has grown to become a man of older age but in the process has become strange, cynical, and even dangerous.

Avram is married to Yael, his mute wife. Together they are taking on the responsibility of caring for an unwanted child. While they initially fairly reluctant to take the task on, once they meet the child they immediately form a strong bond and connection. The girl is innocent in a way that is completely charming and this helps to endear her to the pair immediately.

Channah was just a young teen when her stepfather showed up and demanded that he have custody. He takes her away with the goal of entering her into an arranged marriage. She is still a very young lady but does not know what she can do about the situation.

Her only choice is to embrace the scenario and hope that the man that she will be married to is kind. She has always had a dream that she would have her own child in the future that she can love. At the same time, an old friend is able to persuade Avram to look into the rumors that a miracle worker and healer is around.

Avram is curious and looks into it. He is an older shepherd and has seen a lot, but what he ends up discovering may end up putting everything that he has ever believed in into question.
