Carlo Collodi was a published Italian journalist and an author.
He was born in Florence, Italy on November 24, 1826. He spent much of his life devoting his writing to the liberation movement that was working to free Italy from Austrian domination. He turned his attention in 1875-1876 from politics to writing stories for children.
In 1848, the author signed up to fight with others in the Italian War of Independence. He also founded Il Lampione, the daily satirical newspaper. He kept on writing political and humorous novels, changing things up later to start writing children’s books, which proved to be a good move and one that has made him still recognizable to readers today.
He was best known for being the author of the Pinocchio tale that so many are familiar with today. His name was Carlo Lorenzini but he was best known by his pen name, Carlo Collodi. He passed away on October 26, 1890.
Giannettino is an 1877 book by Carlo Collodi. If you are looking for a great children’s book that is also a classic, this is a great option. Five years before he wrote Pinocchio, the author released a series of educational books for kids that featured the main character of a young brat named Giannettino.
Giannettino is a pest but the mischief that he makes and his attitude is just nothing more than a cry for help and it is one to which Dr. Boccadoro is going to respond to. He is the only one out there that takes a good look at the character of this child and sees why this is happening, and with his help and some work, Giannettino may at last be able to be returned to the right path. An interesting book that you won’t want to miss!
Pinocchio is a book by Carlo Collodi initially published in 1883. This is one of those classics that remains timeless and there is a reason why it has remained so popular throughout the years and has survived to become a go-to for reading audiences to this day.
This is the tale of Pinocchio, and in this book readers will find a good share of adventures that are inspiring along the way. Pinocchio was carved out by a poor man named Geppetto and is a wooden puppet which has the magical ability to come to life. Shortly after animating, Pinocchio decides to leave his maker and goes on a series of misadventures on his own.
While Pinocchio often has a good heart and good intentions, he also has his flaws which sometimes get in the way. He’s lazy, disobedient, and frequently displays poor judgment. The thing about him as well is the puppet also sees his nose grow longer every time that he lies, which tips off others in an obvious way to the fact that he is not being truthful.
Readers will follow along on the adventures of this puppet as he makes his way to a place called the ‘field of miracles’, a place where puts some gold coins in an attempt to try and grow his wealth. As he is chased after by assassins and ends up temporarily becoming the star of a circus show and moves on to an easy life in a place where boys are able to play all day long and do not have to go to school, but also gets into plenty of trouble on the way.
The puppet also has to deal with Cat and Fox, the villainous duo who try to take advantage of him so that they can steal all of his gold coins. Pinocchio then encounters the sea monster the gigantic Dogfish who ends up swallowing him whole and has to work his way out of that situation on his own.
Pinocchio continues his adventure and comes across a variety of menacing characters along the way who often lead him into trouble. He also makes friends with a good Fairy who appears to have great affection for him and wants to assist him when it comes to getting away from his misfortune. She promises him that if he learns to be good, study, and work hard, he can become a real boy at last and not just a puppet brought to life.
Of course, it remains to be seen whether Pinocchio is going to be able to turn his life around and also if he is ever going to be able to see his papa Geppetto ever again. Can the puppet fulfill his dream of becoming real at last, or is that something that he will never be able to obtain?
This is a classic story that was introduced at first as a newspaper serial in 1881 placed in the children’s section. Ever since its full length publication, the book has proved so beloved among audiences that it has been translated into over 260 languages and remains a classic and a go-to still to this day.
