Cat Hellisen is a published author who also goes by CL Hellisen. She was born in 1977.

Their poems and stories have been featured in such publications as Apex, The Magazine of Science Fiction and Fantasy, Shimmer, Strange Horizons, Shoreline of Infinity, and more. Her work has also been shortlisted for awards.

She writes fantasy stories intended for children and adults. She has lived many different places in her life, from Cape Town to Knysna, Johannesburg, and Nottingham. Today she lives in Scotland, a place where she is able to draw constant inspiration from the forests and the fields.

Cat grew up in different libraries and has always liked to read more than anything else. When she was younger she thought that all writers must be already dead and she figured that at some point they were alive and set off to write some stories about her own– many of which featured magical dogs. It would be many more years before writing something that other people wanted to read.

While on this journey, Cat found out that having hobbies that existed outside of books was something fun. Since then she has tried out running, aikido, archery, belly dancing, and figure skating.
