Charles A. Wells is a published author who has written several guidebooks on four wheel drive vehicles.

He attended Ohio State University and graduated in 1969 holding a degree in graphic design. He pursued graphic design while living in Ohio for some time but decided to pick up and move to Colorado Springs in 1980.

From there, he spent over eighteen years working in the printing business. He along with his family were able to enjoy a lot of outdoor activities over the years thanks to their location and spent plenty of time going rafting, biking, hiking, and skiing.

In 1994, Charles purchased an SUV. He quickly developed a passion for going out and exploring the wild of the back country. He would even join up with a four-wheel-drive club, educating himself more and more about what the world of hardcore four-wheeling has to offer.

There were a lot of four-wheel-drive guidebooks that were available on the market, but Charles did not approve of them and did not think they were satisfactory. He decided that the best way to remedy the problem was to tackle it himself. He wrote his first book and it did so well that he pursued it, leaving his job and starting up FunTreks, Inc. in 1998.

Wells has gone on to write more books ever since, which extends to books for ATVs and UTVs. He has also continued to work on the books that already exist. You may have one of his books in black and white that came out originally, and if you like those be sure to check out the newer editions which are in all-color and use precise GPS technology.

Journey Into Light: A Study of the Long Search for Truth in a World Darkened by Dogma is a nonfictional book authored by Charles A. Wells. A comprehensive study, this book takes into account the long journey to find truth in a world that frequently finds itself swimming in dogma. If you love a good book to dive into or are interested in this topic or philosophy, check it out!

Wells looks into the ways that people have looked for truth during the course of history. These searches have also shown to have been influenced by the beliefs that have dominated during those times. The book is split up into three different parts.

The first part goes over truth’s nature and the way that it has been understood at different points throughout history. Wells looks at the various ways that individuals have attempted to pin down truth, as well as the ways that the definitions have evolved and been able to change over time.

The second part looks at dogma’s role and how it shapes the beliefs of different people about truth. Dogma has long been used to press down voices of dissent as well to help maintain a status quo.

The third part involves a call to action. Wells puts forth that people have the need to get out from dogma’s constraints, taking an approach to truth that is more open-minded. Charles thinks that readers or people in general have to retain the willingness to have our beliefs challenged and to take in others’ perspectives.

This book explores the human quest to find truth. It is also a call to action, pulling all of us collectively to take over that quest and to pursue it along with a spirit of curiosity and openness. If you have been searching for an introspective book that has plenty of insights and you are interested in religion, philosophy, or the nature of what truth is, check out this book! Includes an examination of Christianity in the first century as one of the only solutions for the nuclear age’s moral dilemmas.

Guide to California Backroads & 4-Wheel Drive Trails is a guide book written by Charles A. Wells and Matt Peterson. If you love four-wheeling and you have an interest in books with full color photographs (over five hundred of them!) of a hundred trails, then you are going to really get a lot out of this book.

This book has replaced two different books that were written more than a decade ago and came out in black and white. Some of those trails have closed and with the ones that are still open, the list has been whittled down to the top one hundred.

The authors think that these are the collected best group of California trails that have ever been put together. If you are a newcomer to the world of four-wheeling or you have been doing this for some time, this book can help you have fun and find some of the coolest trails in the locale to ride on.

It also comes with an all-color format that is easy to use and simpler than ever. Each of the details about a trail shows up on a two page spread that is pretty handy. The different routes are color coded and are labeled easy, moderate, and difficult. Vehicle symbols also serve to show the types of vehicles that are let on each trail. This extends to unlicensed UTVs, ATVs, and dirt bikes. All trails also have their reverse mileages included and additional historical highlights have also been added in.

There is also a separate log with mileage that includes various locations that are numbered that leap off of the page graphically. The maps also have new detailed relief backgrounds, which reference the different numbered locations between the map and mileage log, making it simple to sense location. Exact GPS coordinated are also additionally provided for each numbered location.

Each of these books is made using concealed spiral binding. The binding is able to lay flat in order to use easily. The plastic laminated cover is heavy duty and is able to take rough use. There are also various GPS trails available on the Funtreks website on SD cards that can be used in Garmin NUVI, Gaming Handheld devices, and Android and Iphone devices. Check this book out if you are a big four-wheeler fan and see what you think!
