Cidney Swanson is a successful published author.

She recounts that she has always ‘had a thing’ for words. She knew that she was going to be a writer from a young age. Her dad taught literature and her mother ensured that she and her sister always had library books at their disposal to read whenever they wanted. The author recounts that her parents took them to see Shakespeare plays and by the time Cidney was nine years old, she was reading stories constantly as well as writing some of her own.

The author eventually discovered Little Women and thought that Louisa May Alcott had modeled the character of Jo March after her. When she was a teen she enjoyed fantasy and science fiction, going so far as to write stories from the future in Elven script invented by Tolkien, which also was handy for hiding some of her journal entries from her sibling.

Cidney would go traveling with her parents every summer and had gone through a variety of locations by the time she was of high school age such as Canada, Mexico, Alaska, and a dozen European countries. She was able to go abroad and travel for three out of her four college years too and add some new locations to her list.

Throughout her twenties and her thirties, Cidney continued to journal, to write poems, to write essays, and to begin novels that would never be finished, fitting all of this into slots of time between changing diapers and chasing around chickens. She started two businesses and home schooled her children with her husband’s help.

Cidney lives in Oregon today with her husband as well as their kids and a variety of animals. She writes on a full time basis and is constantly planning out her next book as well as her next international adventure with equal amounts of enthusiasm for each.

The Siren Sea is the first book in The Five Kingdom Chronicles by Cidney Swanson. This book was previously released under the title of Tsarina Scholar Woodsman Thief. This story is what Kirkus Reviews has called a ‘charming tale brimming with magic, beauty, action, and memorable characters’.

Water Worm and Siren Bone is the second book in The Five Kingdom Chronicles by Cidney Swanson.
