The Comfort Food Mystery series is one of the best series by Christine Wenger. This book series is made up of five books that were released between the year 2013 and the year 2016. Door Diner is the first book in the Comfort mystery series. As the first installment in the Comfort Food Mystery, Do or Diner was released by NAL publication in the year 2013. Christine Wenger has used Upstate New York, Western New York, and Sandy Harbour as the setting for this highly entertaining installment. Some of the most significant characters in the Comfort Food Mystery series include Ty Brisco and Trixie Matkowski. As the novel begins, Trixie is planning to take over their family hotel from her aunt. Trixie remembers the lakeside view of the exceedingly small town hotels that she used to spend most of her time when she was still a child. However, the exceedingly beautiful scene of the diner is later on turned into a crime scene, when a dead body is found within the restaurant.
Before she took the dinner, Trixie was looking for ways of staying away from her cheating ex-husband. When she eventually receives a call from her aunt informing her that she is required to return to Upstate New York, Trixie does not think twice and decides to seize the opportunity. She travels back to Upstate New York while looking for the diner known as the Silver Bullet. However, upon her arrival, Trixie comes to the realization that things were not going to be smooth as she had expected. While she was working at the diner, Trixie meets with one, Ty Brisco, who happens to be the town’s Deputy Sheriff. Upon their first encounter, Trixie comes to the realization that she is somehow attracted to Ty Brisco. As time goes by, the diner is selected for a health inspection, and Trixie is not happy about it. Someone had tried to ruin her reputation and that of the diner as well. Trixie decides to look for the person who was trying to set her up so that she could be able to teach that person a lesson that they would never forget. However, Trixie life ends up being on the line, as that person becomes determined to ensure that Trixie dies.
A Second Helping Murder is the second book in the Comfort Food Mystery series. As the second book in the series, A Second Helping Murder was released a year after the first book. The book begins as Trixie is busy enjoying her time, near the shores of Lake Ontario as well as looking after her family business, the Silver Spring Diner. However, as expected, things take a turn for the worse, when a person passes away in the proximity. Trixie is informed that one of the residents of the exceedingly small town had passed away. She suspects that the death may be somehow related to one of the town’s unsolved cases. Trixie once again joins hands with Ty Brisco as they try to solve the mysteries. As the two conduct their investigation, the discovery that they make shocks them and the entire town as well. Because this is an exceedingly small town, news travels that Trixie is involved in the investigation, which in turn puts her life in danger. The killer believes that Trixie is a threat and thus she should be eliminated before she uncovers the truth.
Macaroni and Freeze are the fourth book in the Comfort Food Mystery by Christine Wenger. As it is the case with all the other installments, there is never a dull moment, when Trixie is around. Trixie is a woman, who is not afraid of getting herself into all types of predicaments. The book begins as too much snow has collapsed the roof of the town’s local library. No one was harmed when the roof collapsed. However, the only challenge that Trixie is going to face is the replacement of the roof, which was going to take lots of money. Furthermore, the damaged equipment and books would also have to be replaced as well. A few weeks after the roof collapsed, Trixie decides to Plan a Cheese and Macaroni cook-off, which is going to act as a fundraiser for the reconstruction of the local library. Everyone loves the idea of the cook-off, and it does not take long before one of the region’s celebrity chef, Priscilla agrees to travel all the way to Sandy Harbour so that she can act as the judge for the competition. Furthermore, she also decides that she is going to offer a spot for the winner on her television show.
Before agreeing to come on the show, Trixie was unaware that Priscilla was from Sandy Harbour. However, despite everything going on the plan, Priscilla presents all kinds of demands including a big motor home. One of the staff members is her step son, with whom they disagree in almost everything. Trixie believes that they are going to generate more money from the cook-off such that they will not only rebuild the library, but she is also going to get much more publicity for her dinner. The contest, in turn, attracts all kind of chefs into the town including several slew chefs who are more than determined to ensure that they will not only win but they will also be able to regain a little bit of fame. Immediately after the contest comes to an end and the winner is announced, Priscilla’s body is found a few meters from where the contest was held.
Priscilla’s life has come to an end, and there are so many suspects. Because she was the organizer of the show, Trixie is more than determined to find out who killed Priscilla. With that said, the book’s cover is exceedingly amazing, and from what the author has presented in the book, Sandy Harbour Library is a beautiful place that has been designed with stained glasses. The reader is going to fall in love with the manner in which the residents of the towns came together to ensure the fundraiser was successful. Despite Trixie is one of the main suspects in the fourth book, the good-looking Sheriff Ty believes that Trixie had nothing to do with the incidence.
