The Sacred Place

‘The Sacred Place,’ a stand-alone historical novel, was published on February 6, 2007. It was released by St. Martin’s Press and was well-received by readers. The novel was praised for its vivid descriptions and the captivating atmosphere it created.

In the summer of 1955, one fourteen-year-old Clement, a native of Chicago, entered a general store in Money, Mississippi to purchase a soda. He chose to place the dime on the counter, instead of in the hand of Miss Cuthbert, the store attendant; a challenge to the traditional rules governing black and white relations taking place in the South. Clement declared, “I ain’t no slave!” before leaving the store with a newfound feeling of entitlement.

Unfortunately, his brave act resulted in his murder, sparking a battle for equality in Money. The black community was then galvanized to stand up for their rights.
