Daniel F. Galouye was a published author. His middle name is Francis.

He was born on February 11, 1920 and passed away September 7, 1976 in New Orleans. He was known for being a popular American science fiction author. He published various novelettes and short stories during the fifties and sixties to different digest-sized sci-fi magazines, frequently using the pen name of Louis G. Daniels to do so.

He attended Louisiana State University and graduated with his B.A. After that, he was employed as a reporter for many different newspapers. He was busy during World War II serving in the US Navy as an instructor and test pilot. However, he would get injuries from doing so that would lead to health problems later on down the road.

He would get married to Carmel Barbara Jordan on December 26, 1945. From the forties until he retired in 1967, he was part of the staff of The States Item. He was living in the city of New Orleans but at the same time maintained a summer home across Lake Pontchartrain in Covington, Louisiana.

Daniel had some success in writing for the first time in 1952, when he sold his novelette Rebirth to Imagination. From there he would make his way to other digest magazines, such as Galaxy Science Fiction and The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction.

Moving into longer form writing, Daniel wrote five novels in between 1961 and 1973. This also included Simulacron-3 (also known as Simulacron Three), which became the foundation for the movie The Thirteenth Floor as well as Welt am Draht, the 1973 German TV miniseries. Dark Universe, his 1961 debut novel, would be nominated for a Hugo.

In 2007, he was selected to receive the Cordwainer Smith Rediscovery Award, which is co-sponsored by the heirs of Paul M.A. Linebarger and Readercon. He was selected on July 6, 2007 by Barry N. Malzberg and Gordon Van Gelder.

Maybe God might be able to manage all of existence more effectively if the universe were not so complex. But despite this, would God even be ready to do a final battle with the Destructive Force or would he find that it’s all gotten too out of hand? Simulacron-3 is a science fiction book by Daniel F. Galouye. This is the type of story that was ahead of its time as it was a virtual reality story in a time before virtual reality existed. It is a slightly prophetic novel that tells of a future where nothing is what it seems to be. Is it a simulated disappearance or could it be that there is someone out there that wants to get them all? When you get down to it, what it the true nature of reality and what could it mean once defined? This book was immensely popular upon its release and stories based on it have been made into movies and television shows. Many science fiction fans have it as part of their library and now you can too! Check out Simulacron-3 by Daniel F. Galouye to follow along with every word of this classic.
