Deborah Jay is an American published author.
She is someone who likes to write fast paced fantasy adventure stories that have unusual characters and plots that are multi-layered, which is just what she enjoys reading. She is happy to live near Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands, a majestic place that she calls home. She shares her life with her partner and a pack of rescue dogs.
Deborah says that she can often be discovered lurking in secluded forests and glens, doing some more research for her books. She has a taste for the good things in life, something that she recounts is kept in check by the expense of many dressage horses and what she describes as a ‘complete inability to cook’.
Her debut novel is The Prince’s Man, which won a UK Arts Board award. She has also released a multi-author SFF anthology which features Perfect Fit, her SF story. Deborah also has released nonfiction equestrian titles under her professional pen name, Debby Lush.
The author says that she has been a science fiction and fantasy fan for all of her life. Whether it was television, films, or books, she says that she just cannot get enough. While she was growing up, she says that she is able to recall her excitement around the moon landing. When she was a kid, she had a steady diet of television shows that included Bewitched, My Favorite Martian, and the Gerry Anderson series, as well as Star Trek.
As a result, she says that she was wired for fantasy and science fiction since birth. As genres, she descries them as a dream for writers since they are the ultimate scope for imagination. She recounts that for years she was reading books as quickly as she could find them and then one day it dawned on her that she was able to write them too. Deborah says that being able to make her own schedule is a distinct advantage when it comes to being self-employed.
In the real world, she is a trainer, judge, professional rider, and author. Readers looking to get a little more fantasy stories in their lives can check out her body of work to get more familiar with this author and be sure to also check out her work as Debby Lush.

Rustam Chalice is a dance tutor, spy, and hedonist. He loves his life and loves to live it to the fullest. For him, things are never better than when he is in the midst of bedding a beautiful woman. He has many vices, but perhaps women and intimacy is his largest one.
When the kingdom that he serves is threatened, Rustam decides that it is time to leap into action. The only difficulty is that Prince Hal the spy master has paired him up with an aristocratic assassin who hates him. Making things even more difficult is the fact that she is objectively the most gorgeous woman in the Five Kingdoms.
Put into a journey over the mountains, the mismatched couple do their best to try and survive deadly wildlife, the movements of a spiteful god, obstacles they are unable to see coming, and of course, each other, which may be the toughest challenge of them all.
They are also going to have to work hard to keep an ill elf alive, someone that they need as a political pawn. Then the elf tells them that Rustam has some magic of his own. When this happens, Rustam is forced to question his identity as well as his sanity and his loyalty to the prince. In Tyr-en, those who choose to use magic are put to death. Can Rustam figure out what he wants to do and will he make a decision quickly enough? Read this first book in the series to find out.
The Prince’s Son is the second book in The Five Kingdoms series by Deborah Jay. If you thought that the first book in this series was entertaining, continue along with the action by reading this book.
Nessa Haddo was raised to go after what every young noblewoman should want. She has been trained to get herself a suitable husband. But she is also a younger twin and has limited prospects as a result. Things start to seemingly improve when she sees the handsome foreign envoy that is sent to escort her sister to her arranged marriage. However, the romantic ambitions that she has end up getting her mixed up in terrible events that are worse than her darkest nightmares.
Rustam Chalice is a former spy who has a new assignment that seems easy when you compare it to his last mission. His job is to wrangle a bridal caravan and help them get across a mountain range that is full of trolls, werecats, bandits, and worse.
More than that, he has to try and coax a princess out of self imposed isolation while also arriving on time for a politically sensitive wedding. He has no idea what could end up going wrong except for just about everything, which is what he anticipates.
At the same time, there’s Lady Risada, the woman who is haunting Rustam’s dreams. She’s trying to do what she can to get used to a normal life. Her assassin’s instincts scream that there is foul play at work. But despite this, she can find nothing that is amiss.
While an old enemy out there bides his time, can Rustam and Risada accomplish what they want or will they have to learn to get used to disappointment? Read the second book in The Five Kingdoms series by Deborah Jay to follow along with all of this fantasy action and adventure and find out how the story ends!
