Del Sandeen is a published American author. She is a copy editor and a writer and resides in the northeast area of the state of Florida.

She has received recognition for her work as well as grants such as the 2019 Diverse Writers Grant and the 2019 Diverse Worlds Grant from the Speculative Literature Foundation.

Del has had her short fiction featured in a variety of publications and magazines as well as other media sources, including Nightlight Podcast, Uncanny Magazine, FIYAH: Speculative Literary Magazine, FIYAH: Speculative Literary Magazine, and Magnolia, a Journal of Women’s Socially Engaged Literature Volume III.

Del has also written nonfiction which has been featured in places such as Gay magazine, Uncanny, ZORA, and Allure.

She has written books for young adults that include Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemings: Joined by Fate, Coping with Racial Profiling, and the book Maya Angelou: Writer and Activist.

Her first book for adults is The Cursed House, a 2024 release. Fellow authors had very positive things to say about the story. Alexis Henderson called the Southern Gothic story ‘sinister and beautifully rendered’. Author Alma Katsu called the story ‘haunting and chilling’.

They’ve all got a loose grasp on reality that makes its way to all of the members of their family, who is more than a little eccentric. It affects everyone from Honorine, the grandmother with a haughty attitude, to cousin Fosette, who is gorgeous but difficult to read.

The truth simply comes out that the family is in the middle of a cruse. Whether real or not, they seem to have the impression that Jemma might have the power to break it for them for good. Jemma has always had a gift, but she has always shied away from embracing it fully.

Now she has the power to potentially turn things around for a family. They haven’t treated her that well, so she doesn’t have grand incentive to do it. Except for the fact that if she fails in her task, the secrets of this family may end up eternally tying her to their fate.
