Derek Slaton started writing back during high school after he was inspired by “Dawn of the Dead”, the George A. Romero classic, and his love of zombies has never ended.

This love is on display in the “Dead America” series, which is an epic zombie story set to grow in complexity and scale without any end in sight.

“Smoothen Silky: Demon Fighting Pimp” is the first novel in the “Grindhouse Chronicles” series and was released in 2018. Demons. Pimps. Midgets wielding chainsaws.

“Midget With a Chainsaw” is the second novel in the “Grindhouse Chronicles” series and was released in 2018. He has had it up to here!

“Curse of the Blue Diablo: Double Feature: Pestilence A Go-Go” is the third novel in the “Grindhouse Chronicles” series and was released in 2018. Death from the top rope. One murdered Luchador has returned from the grave in order to exact his revenge on those that ended his life. Just Alex Nantz (Agency recruiter) can finish his rampage and set things right.

“The Butcher of Camp Barlow” is the first novel in the “Direct to VHS” series and was released in 2018. Ten years after the horrific murders up at Camp Barlow, this group of hard partying college students descend upon this long dormant site.

One by one they’re pursued by this deranged murderer that is not all that happy to have visitors. Is anybody going to survive through the night?

This is the first installment of the “Direct to VHS” series, which pays homage to the trashy cult cinema from the 1980s.

“Day Zero” is the first novel in the “Dead Texas” series and was released in 2018. There’s been a plague released in Austin. It is incredibly lethal, highly infectious, and turns the recently dead into quick moving zombies with a taste of human flesh.

Lacy Sparks (a rookie officer) gets tossed into the action once she’s assigned to this federal strike force tasked with preventing the outbreak from becoming this full blown pandemic. It is a race against time while she and her team struggle to even survive against the growing forces of undead.

“Carolina Front” is the first novel in the “Dead America: The First Week” series and was released in 2018. This is Day Zero and the Texas zombie virus is rapidly spreading throughout the whole nation. In a desperate race against time, two special forces teams are given this impossible mission. Turn the football stadium located in Charlotte into a fortress, and rescue a few of the brightest minds in the whole world to help out with the coming war.

This focuses on the national response to the Texas zombie outbreak. There’s numerous mini series within The First Week that are focused on several regions of the nation and how they’re dealing with this crisis.

“Mississippi” is the first novel in the “Dead America: Second Week” series and was released in 2019. The second week kicks off with a BANG! While survivors in the small community of Lula, Mississippi scavenge for supplies across the river, one choice made by somebody 1,000 miles away puts them and their whole entire community at risk.

With weapons being scarce, they have to use their wits if they want to live to see another day in the zombie apocalypse.

This introduces new survivors and locations along with revisiting some familiar ones while people all around the country battle for their survival against the growing armies of undead.

“Creeping Death: Part 1” is the first novel in the “Dead America: El Paso” series and was released in 2021. Sparks and her team are on a supply run to the east of Fort Stockton, when they make a horrifying discovery. One million zombies are marching down the interstate as one, headed right for El Paso.

With time not being on their side, they’re forced to retreat back to Fabens, where the real plan for their survival starts.

“Invaders from Above” is the first novel in the “Invaders from Above” series and was released in 2022. On the other side of the world from the initial crash site, the full invasion has begun.

Retired Captain Colten “Colt” Hodges hosts Sergeant Dario Estes, his buddy, at his home just outside of Phoenix, Arizona while the chaos starts. When the attacks start, these two warriors do what they do best, arm themselves and face the unknown threat from above head on.

“Alaska” is the first novel in the “Dead America: Tales of the First Month” series and was released in 2024. Brian (a cargo plane pilot) is on a routine supply run from the small wilderness town of Marshall and he lands in Anchorage right when the zombie apocalypse starts. Is he going to survive just long enough to be able to return back home? And if he’s able, is he going to bring the apocalypse with him?

“Peyton’s Nightmares” is the first novel in the “Dead America: New York Tales” series and was released in 2024. Peyton and her friends, during the beginning of the zombie apocalypse, head out to the club in order to celebrate her sister’s birthday. However the night doesn’t go quite as planned.
