Dizz Tate is a published author.

She lives in London but grew up in America in the state of Florida. She made the long list for the distinction of being the Young Poet Laureate for London in 2014.

Before this, Dizz has been published in The Wrong Quarterly, Squawk Back, and Arachne Press, as well as work that is coming out in Femmeuary (no, that’s not a typo for the month of February, that’s the name of the publication!). She has also written a short play that was part of the London Design Festival.

She has also taken part in the Young Writers Workshop at the Lyric Theatre in Hammersmith in 2014. She was long listed for the Bare Fiction Prize as well as the Bristol Short Story Prize in 2015.

Meanwhile, a group of thirteen year old girls find themselves following Sammy. They orbit around this preacher’s daughter in a way that is almost obsessive. Sammy is not only older, but she is mesmerizing in a very unique way, and she is in love with Eddie.

There is no warning when Sammy goes missing and there is no signal that it was going to happen in the first place. No one knows where Sammy could be and they are worried about where she is and what type of trouble she could be in.

Keeping an eye from a distance, the group gets closer and closer to finding out a dark secret that could be kept about their town that is very hungry for fame as well as the cost of getting a ticket out of there. What the girls end up seeing could end up haunting them for the rest of their natural days.

Through a lens that is compelling and beautiful, Tate ends up taking a picture of all the violence and horrors that come along with the joys of girlhood. This is a novel that is all about the bonds that exist that seem unbreakable, the unification that young friendship brings, and what happens in the moment that it ends up being broken forever.
