Embassie Susberry is a published author and an attorney.
When not busy with her day job, she can be found writing something that she wants to read, like historical romance, or reading something interesting. She has a strong relationship with Jesus Christ and her life and writing is completely influenced by it. She cannot imagine writing anything without the presence of this in it.
Embassie loves to read and reads quite a bit, although she is very picky about it. When she is not able to find anything that she wants to read she occupies herself by watching Korean and Turkish dramas.
The author has always had a passion for anything having to do with romance. Her father took her to see the movie Beauty and the Beast three times when it first arrived in theaters when she was three years old. She has been writing for a long time and finds a good story very entertaining.
Embassie has a fondness for American history. You can usually find her taking in a documentary. She loves all types but has a fondness for ones that feature the Civil War. She also enjoys historical fiction but doesn’t find a lot out there that she identifies with or relates to so she decided that the best solution to this was to write her own.
She says that even though people in her generation are meant to be pretty tech savvy, she does not really see herself as a tech savvy person.
Embassie has always enjoyed reading. She remembers the exact day that she discovered her love of reading. She could not sleep after being sent to bed and they did not have cable television at the time, so there were no cartoons on the television to be had.
She turned on the light and saw her bookcase filled with all types of books and went over to it and just started reading. Her mother bought her lots of books and Embassie took a brand new book and opened it. For the first time she found out what it was like to escape to a new place and care about imaginary people and get caught up in a story, feeling entertained and content.
Through the Waters is the first book in the Tate Family series by Embassie Susberry. If you like reading an interesting historical romance story that is not too intense, this might be the story for you!
The place is Alabama and the year is 1961. Main character Cecelia “Sissy” Little believed that when Truitt Tate left her cousin at the altar two years ago that it would be the last time that she ever saw him. But then he appears at her door and she is flabbergasted.
Truitt says that he’s an FBI agent and is undercover and needs her to pretend that she is engaged to him. Sissy does not like this turn of events at all and is unprepared for it. She can’t stand him but she has also put in a lot of hard work to make a life for herself as well as her nephews in this town which is already pretty racially charged. She doesn’t need Tate to just come in out of nowhere and ruin everything.
Truitt knows that he has not always been the most upstanding guy but he also knows that he’s changed. From the second that he met Sissy Little, he wanted to make things right. He may have come to Alabama to conduct some business but more than ever is hoping that he can get something personal accomplished out of it.
He sticks around and becomes more involved in the Civil Rights movement and Sissy must deal with old secrets and fears. Could the two share more than they thought and find something in each other? Could they be destined for love? Read this book to find out!

The year is 1963. The main character Katherine Tate is famous for having a lot of things. She has great taste in fashion, a wonderful singing voice, and a great personality.
She didn’t anticipate that God would speak to her and instruct her to pack up all of her things and take her bags and go home. Just like that, she decides that from now on she doesn’t want to be known for all those other things. She wants to be recognized for her faith in God.
Kate goes home but doesn’t expect to take on an old mystery with the help of new friends and old. Can Reverend Jesse Waters help her crack this mystery? Also, can she figure out why every clue that she finds ends up leading her back to the Tate family’s doorstep?
As it turns out, Kate might just be able to do it all. Can she find her new faith steadily and represent it well? Can she take what’s gone wrong in the past and fix it, as well as the problems of her family? If she figures out what is going on with the curse, will she be able to break it?
