Emily B. Martin is a published American author.
She not only writes but works as a park ranger during the summer. For the rest of the year, she is a stay at home mom who also works as a freelance artist and an illustrator. She is an avid explorer and a hiker and her experiences working as a ranger have even helped her to write the character of Mae and expand into the world of Woodwalker in an authentic way.
When Emily is not busy being out there patrolling places such as Yellowstone, the Great Smoky Mountains, or the Philmont Scout Ranch, she is out living her life and spending time with her family. She is married and lives in South Carolina along with her husband Will and Lucy and Amelia, their two daughters.
Sunshield is the first book in the Outlaw Road series by Emily B. Martin. If you have been looking for a unique and a creative story to read, this is the perfect selection for you! Introduce yourself to a fresh new voice in fiction and see what you have (potentially) been missing out on.
A polished court and a lawless wilderness. The fates of individuals are being spun as they act, each of them on their own personal mission to expose a corrupt system.
When it comes to Alcoro and its desolate canyons, as well as the people who are desperate enough to want to hide out there, they could not have more differences from Moquoia, with its fancy glass palace and its lush forests. Despite this, the harsh desert and the gleaming court are connected through their past as well as their present and future. There is a history of abductions in the desert conducted in order to help power the factories and quarries of Moquoia, and a future that is inhuman and dystopian that is based on the blood, sweat, and tears of the bond laborers.
However, the events that are going down in the present could end up having the potential to change all of it. In the desert, Lark is an outlaw who is known to many by her nickname of ‘the Sunshield Bandit’. She’s been able to carve a name out for herself by attacking the wagons of slavers and working to free the captives who are trapped inside.
Even as she works to shake the foundation of this hierarchical society, Lark is also going to have to fight to protect the people that she rescued as well as herself from the world all around them, which is less than forgiving.
In the court of Moquoia, Veran is a young ambassador. He is hoping that he is at last going to have the chance to make his mark by tackling the unjust labor system and working to dismantle it. If he is able to navigate the hostility of the prince and the strict hierarchy of this place, he might just be successful.
Caught in the center of it all, Tamsin is stuck between the four walls and is at the center of a secret political coup whose goal is to overthrow the monarchy and keep the system of injustice going that has been in place for quite a long time.
Apart from each other, the diplomat, outlaw and prisoner may be more deeply connected than anyone is even able to realize. When it comes to their personal fates, they may just have the strength to tip the power balance in the Eastern World. That is, if the power that they tap into doesn’t destroy them along the way. Will they be able to find the power that they need without losing more than they’re ready to let go of? Read this fascinating fantasy series to find out!
Floodpath is the second book in the Outlaw Road series by Emily B. Martin. If you loved the first book in the series, be sure to check out the sequel and see what you think of it and keep the adventure and all of the fantasy action going in this epic fantasy series from Martin!
The adventure that started out in Sunshield continues to progress relentlessly forward to the exciting conclusion in an interesting and creative finale that will leave readers breathless with anticipation. The fate of four young people as well as those of their nations may end up being decided in this tome, so if you loved the first story in this series be sure to keep things going and see what you think.
Lark and Veran may be unlikely allies, but that doesn’t mean that they can’t work together to achieve what they want. When the hopes that they have for putting down the horrible bondage system that Moquoia employs go to pot, Lark and Veran must go into the harsh environment of the desert.
They don’t have any horses to carry them and no weapons on them. But they are going to have to work to make their way to safety, crossing the nearly fifty mile expanse of plains without any water that are called ‘the water scrape’. It is an incredible journey that is going to come along with plenty of dangers that may be challenging even for Lark, a skilled outlaw.
The more that they travel, the more that Lark starts to wonder if she is even going to be able to live up to her name of the Sunshield Bandit any longer. Tamsin has gotten injured in the coup to overthrow the monarchy and now is accompanied by Iano. They go to a safe house on retreat where they are waiting for Lark and Veran to come back.
They are desperate to try and uncover the traitor that is lying in wait in the court, so they come up with a plan in which they will confront Kimela, the new palace ashoki. Put into danger by the wilderness as well as their own shaky alliances, Veran, Tamsin, and Lark each take on huge risks to get to the bottom of everything and find out the truth.
Even though they end up finding it, will their forces put together end up being strong enough to put an end to the evil that is racing through their land and make society more fair for everyone? Read this fantasy story to find out!
