All That Life Can Afford is the first novel to come out from Emily Everett. It is a coming of age debut that is all about a young American lady named Anna who goes to London and has to navigate life that includes everything from lies to love, class and more among the jet-set elite of the city.
Her intention is to arrive in the city like a blank sheet of notebook paper and write herself a new story and identity for herself. It was back in her original home that she first fell in love with the idea of London, all thanks to her hometown library.
The Jane Austen balls at the library, however, were a lot different from the life that she grew up with, living off of food stamps and hand me downs. However, when she finally gets there after college, the real London is a far way off from what she imagined.
Instead her version of London is a flat filled with mold and the same grind of daily living paycheck to paycheck. Anna just has to look around to know that the fairy tale life has not yet arrived for her. Then everything appears to change when she meets the Wilders.
They fly her to Saint-Tropez for the purposes of tutoring their teen daughter. Anna finds herself not only swept up by the older sister but by an entire life that she never thought existed. She finds herself plunged into a world of parties and excess, where people are confident because it is their birthright.
It is in this place that she meets two handsome young men. One of them wants to whisk her into his world and drive her around in a chauffeured car, and the other man sees how Anna is working to outrun her past. It’s all so new and it feels like she has stepped into the pages of a new novel, but will it cost more than she wants in order to play this part?
Pick up a copy of All That Life Can Afford to see behind the glossy world of privilege and class and see whether Anna is able to craft a unique life for herself that she loves or whether it will all fade away the instant she is denied access by getting a copy of this book for yourself!
