Born on the 8th of May, 1989, to Palestinian parents who had immigrated from refugee camps in Palestine, and with her grandparents also living out their lives in the camps, she was raised in a traditional family and was married at a young age. After moving to North Carolina, she gave birth to her daughter and son at the age of 19 and 21, respectively.

She later enrolled in North Carolina State University where she earned a B.A. in English Language and Literature, a B.S. in Philosophy, and an M.A. in American and British Literature and Philosophy. During her studies, she developed a love of literature, which inspired her to pursue a career as a writer.

A Woman Is No Man

Released on March 5th, 2019, Etaf Rum’s debut novel, ‘A Woman Is No Man’ was published by Harper. The novel received immediate acclaim and has since won multiple awards. It has become a highly popular stand-alone contemporary novel that has been praised by readers around the world.

Evil Eye
