Which Country Has the World’s Best Health Care? is a 2020 book by Ezekiel J. Emanuel. The author is a doctor and a bio-ethicist– who better to tackle this question? In this book, the author asked over and over which country has the best healthcare and went out to find an answer and put it all into this book. If this is an interesting topic to you, this nonfiction read is going to be at the top of your to-do (or to-read) list.
It’s a fact that the United States is a huge spender when it comes to healthcare. They are at the top of the pack and are known for spending more than any other nation in the world on this area to the tune of nearly four trillion dollars. Yes, that is ‘trillion’ with a ‘t’. So one would think that for all of this big spending that the U.S. would also be at the top of the list when it comes to healthcare, but that is simply not the case.
Despite all of this expense, the United States fails to grab the top-ranked spot in this field. They’re not even close to being number one. Ezekiel decides to profile eleven of the global healthcare systems to try and find the best one or at least discover a place where excellence can be found.
With a comparative structure, this book lets patients, healthcare professionals, and policy makers know what the systems are that are performing well and the reasons for why they are doing so, and also which ones are facing endemic issues.
From different locations all over the world, the most inventive healthcare providers take on a set of challenges while looking to provide the best healthcare in the world. Who has the best healthcare and why, and what can the United States do in order to climb up the list? Read this fascinating book from leading health expert Ezekiel J. Emanuel to find out.
