Fury is a series of western novel authored by James Reasoner under the pen name Jim Austin. The main character in Fury series is John Fury, a silent man who wanders the frontier of the west, well-armed and ready to help those in need. Jim Austin began the publication of Fury series in 1992 when Fury the first book in the series was published. Fury series lasted five books concluding in 1995 when Nevada Guns was published.

When people talk of authors who have used house names and remained a mystery for decades, James Reasoner tops this list. He has authored many books under other names such as William Grant, Jake Foster, Wesley Ellis, Livia James, Tom Early, Jake Logan, etc. Jim Austin was born in Fort Worth Texas, but his family relocated to Azle Texas when he was only two weeks old and still resides in Azle today. The author attended North Texas State University and married Livia Washburn (a prolific writer) in 1976, and the couples have two daughters. Austin has also co-authored novels with his wife in the fiction genre.
