Gordon Wallis is a British thriller novelist born to English parents in Zimbabwe in 1968. While he still has his British citizenship, he prefers to make his home deep in the south of Africa, from where he writes his novels and runs several businesses. Gordon went to Plumtree School in Zimbabwe and it was during his schooling years that he got into thriller adventure novels. As an adult, he still loves to read thriller adventures set in Africa and his reading of such fiction significantly influences his writing. Wallis also loves to travel and has been to locations across the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Europe, and Africa. He also uses his travels to enrich his storytelling as he usually makes use of his experiences to provide nuanced perspectives and authentic backdrops. His passion for writing thought-provoking and engaging stories has made him amass a loyal readership that has made him one of contemporary thriller’s most prominent voices.
Gordon Wallis published The Snowman of Zanzibar, his debut novel and the first of the Jason Green books, in 2018. The series tells the story of Jason Green, a former soldier who deals with all manner of challenges across Africa and outside of it. Over the years, Wallis has become known for his storytelling which is often characterized by high-octane action and vivid descriptions. These immerse his readers in the complex sociopolitical climates and diverse landscapes in which he sets his novels. His novels usually have motifs of corruption, crime, and the wanton destruction and exploitation of Africa and particularly his natural resources, The latter shows just how much he is connected to the African continent where he has lived his entire life.
Outside of his fiction works, Gordon Wallis has also written some nonfiction works. He published his first non-fiction work Africa’s Lost Vinyl Record Press in 2018, the same year he published his first fiction work. Two years later, he published The Plumstreet Diaries. While he is now well past middle age, Wallis remains stubbornly single. As for his hobbies, he loves playing the guitar even though he is terrible at it which is why he thinks it was a good thing he decided to become a fiction author instead.
Gordon Wallis published his debut fiction novel The Snowman of Zanzibar in 2018. The work is set in the turquoise waters of a beautiful tropical paradise where a murderous and sinister criminal is hiding. Things go wrong when there is the exposure of a dark secret which results in appalling chaos and bloodshed. Meanwhile Jason Green the former soldier is drowning in alcohol, as he is dealing with depression during a bitterly cold London winter. He thought the freelance work in insurance fraud was too banal only for things to change on a cold morning in February. He is sent on a mission to find out how the young son of a wealthy client was making so much money. He thinks it is the perfect assignment as it would take him out of the city and involve travel. Unknowingly, while he is working the case on a picturesque island, he is awakening a ruthless drug empire that operates in the shadows. Digging deeper, he finds the truth, only for a series of unexpected events to derail his efforts, resulting in unspeakable horror and violence. He believes his friend had unearthed some secret and this is what led to his death. Meanwhile, some powerful and corrupt forces are watching, willing to do anything to protect their business. Even though this is the most dangerous assignment he has ever worked on, he will do anything to stop the poaching syndicates. As the bodies continue to pile up, Green has no choice but to go deep into the world of smugglers.
