Heath Gunn
Author Heath Gunn was born in Sheffield in the year 1971, and grew up in Rotherham and left home at the age of eighteen in order to join the Royal Navy to be a Helicopter Engineer, something he was honored and privileged to do. Heath has lived in Hampshire, along the South Coast since, because he loves being close to the sea.

He is the CEO of Enham Trust, a Hampshire based disability charity, where he helps disabled people live the lives they so choose to live. Along with the Senior Leadership Team, the Board of Trustees, and Staff teams, he works to ensure that Enham Trust delivers the very best experience and outcomes possible for both the staff he works alongside and the people they support. Heath spent two years with the charity as its Director of Integrated Services before taking on the CEO role in early 2017.

In the year 2018, he was shortlisted for the CEO Today Awards, United Kingdom for his innovative, strong, and forward-thinking leadership.

He is also a chairman of the MOVE Programme. From 1992, until 2002, he ran New and Used Car Dealerships in both Portsmouth and Southampton.

Besides writing, he likes to play guitar, be in his garden, and spend time with his family and with his dog, Bear, with whom he enjoys taking walks on the weekends. He is also the lead singer of Rapid Tranq, a rock covers band which he’s been doing since the year 2007.

Heath used to work for ten years with the National Health Service, where he was involved in delivering and developing a range of non-clinical and clinical Learning Disability, Mental Health, and Social Care services.

Heath received an MSc in Management and Leadership in Health from Kingston University. Additionally, he’s got a diverse range of senior and commercial operation experience from the construction and motor industries, which when combined with his time in Social Care and Health gives him over two decades worth of operational leadership and management knowledge and experience to draw upon.

Alongside a colorful and varied career to date, Heath’s written for years, producing stories of various lengths, picture book stories for young kids, short stories, and poetry.

While writing poems, he tries to write them as and when they pop into his head, even if it is just a couple lines, that he will later turn into full and complete poems. Since he started keeping his scribblings, he has written more than one hundred poems.

Heath has been writing stories for as long as he can remember and enjoys writing in a bunch of different genres. He hopes the crime fiction hooks readers in and keeps them turning pages long after you are supposed to be doing other things.

The idea for his first novel “Prisoner” came to him one day when he was having a quiet day on a car sales site he owned in the year 2000. He rapidly jotted down his thoughts and soon realized that he his story had a beginning, a middle, and an end. So he began writing the novel, which took him three and a half years to write.

Heath finds that the best thing about being a writer is the escapism and the opportunity it allows to create new characters and worlds that surprise him each and every day. He deals with writer’s block by switching to another story, and finds that he gets inspired to write by reading some great stories. The best advice that he has for any aspiring writers is to write every single day; even if it is just for fifteen minutes.

If he could travel to any fictional book world, he would go to the Shires and off to Bilbo Baggins’ house. He first read “The Hobbit” at the age of thirteen and has been a fan ever since that time.

Heath’s debut novel, called “Prisoner”, was released in the year 2019 and was published by Page Turner Publications on November 29, 2019. His work is from the thriller and crime genres.

“Prisoner” is the first novel in the “DI Lomas Baxter” series and was released in the year 2019. DI Lomas Baxter is used to dealing with the south coast’s criminal underbelly and has built his career off hunting down and catching killers. He’s also a dedicated dad and husband that strives to keep both “the job” and his family separate.

While the arm of the third victim gets fished out of a stream, Baxter knows that he must hunt down and stop this sadistic serial killer. It is one who is relentlessly abducting, then torturing and murdering young women. DI Baxter and his team, as the body-count rises, race in order to save the innocent victims’ lives, as they are being taunted by one seemingly untouchable enemy.

Is Baxter going to be able to capture this killer before the threat moves closer to his home and both of his worlds collide?

Fans found this to be an excellent thriller that grabbed them right from the beginning and never let go. The novel is a compelling story and keeps you right on the edge of your seat the entire way through, with some finding themselves finishing this in just a single sitting. Some readers even found themselves being upset anytime they had to set it down for even a moment, because they could not wait to read what would happen next in the story. The twists in the novel were very unexpected, and readers had quite a few jaw dropping moments in the book.

These characters are well written and brilliant, and there are even some strong female characters here, as well. Readers especially loved Lomas Baxter, who shows great integrity and leadership, and they look forward to reading more about him. Readers also hope to get to know him, along with the rest of his team, better in future books.

This excellent debut novel is for fans of the writing greats like Val McDermid and Ian Rankin as well as for readers who love psychological thrillers in general.
