Ia Genberg is a published Swedish novelist and journalist.

She was born on November 5, 1967 in Stockholm, Sweden. Ia first became a writer in the eyes of the public with her debut of the novel Sweet Friday. Her fourth novel would win the August Prize in 2022, the same year that it (The Details) was published. The English translation done by Kira Josefsson made the shortlist for the 2024 International Booker Prize.

The Details is a 2023 book by Ia Genberg. A Swedish author makes her debut in the English language with this novel that is sure to have readers captivated from the first page to the very last. Few novels are as intoxicating as this one, and fans of Sheila Heti and Rachel Cusk will likely be happy with this work. The story revolves around a woman who has a very high fever who is remembering the important people who have come from her past, and her memories are shown in detail as her body temperature continues to go up.

The main character is a woman who is stuck in bed thanks to a high fever. Then she gets an urge to look at a novel from her past, and inside the book she finds an inscription. It is a message from her ex-girlfriend Johanna who tells her to get well soon. They used to go out, but Johanna now works as a famous television host. The woman flips through the book and as she does, the pages from her own past start to come to life. She finds herself reviewing events and people that she is not able to forget.

She recalls moments not only with Johanna but with Niki. Niki is a pal of hers who vanished from her life years ago. She didn’t leave behind an address or a phone number where she could be reached and had no online footprint. Then there is also Alejandro, who has been campaigning for a boy despite the fact that he thinks their love has no future. There is also Brigitte, a woman whose qualities are able to cover for a painful secret.

This is a novel that revolves around four different portraits and the little details out there that can make up an entire life once they are put together. Is a loved one really able to disappear? Is the topic of the portrait the subject of the painting or the artist with the brush? Is it through our connections to other people that we are able to fully become ourselves?

This interesting story brings up deeper questions about relationships and how we choose to tell our stories. A look at what it is to be human, grab a copy of this book to explore all that Ia Genberg has to say.

This book contains five short stories that are all interconnected and focus on the subject of money, the one thing that they all have in common. Humorous and intricate, these stories feature different characters and explores various ways that money plays into their lives and their choices.

They include an interview with a former child star who is now operating as a thief, a story about the strange death of an employee at a drug manufacturer, or a couple who are pretending that they are happily married so that they can hold onto their inheritance. Through these different stories and people, Genberg is able to take an up close and personal look at money and explore the value that we put on it as well as people.

The author also contemplates different topics and scenarios as well. Genberg examines what it means when we are in debt to someone, and what it means when our financial worth ends up bleeding into the different ways that we feel and think. She also looks at the things that we can potentially lose even when we win, skewering its characters and even implicating the audience of the reader as things go along.
