Irene Sauman is a published Australian author and retired historian. She also writes modern cozy stories under the pen name Rennae Todd. She uses the name of Irene Sauman to write historical cozy mysteries.
Irene resides in Perth in western Australia. She grew up in New South Wales and went to school there by the mighty Murray River. There she lived with her parents on a vineyard and an orange orchard. There were several generations of her father’s family that were involved on the river with paddle steamers, so naturally it was this type of setting that she chose to set her first cozy mystery series.
She continues to reside in western Australia and has three children and grandchildren, as well as a sister who beta reads her books, checking for plot holes while also working to see how quickly she is able to solve the mystery, in which she is not always successful.
When she is not busy writing, Irene fesses up to being a readaholic. In addition to that, she likes to watch tennis, likes to play croquet where she notes that age will defeat youth and enthusiasm every time, and has a green thumb to some extent, meaning that not much dies in her garden (which is very different to her cozy mysteries).
Some of her favorite authors include Ngaio Marsh, Dorothy Sayers, Anthony Trollope, and Agatha Christie. Even though she loves mysteries, Irene also makes an effort to expand her reading to more than that.
Irene can be contacted through her Facebook author page and you can also reach her on BookBub. She belongs to the Aussie Readers group and other cozy mystery groups on Goodreads.
