Lilnos Savage was just a young girl when she discovered that she was in charge of the family pottery. As she did her best to keep the business going, she found that she had a lot of problems to get over. This included the untimely death of her mother as well as the plotting of Philip Morton Edwards, who was known by everyone in Swansea for being a rich and powerful owner of a rival pottery.

When her father comes back from fighting Napoleon in France and was badly wounded, it should have been a happy reunion. Instead, his being there only made things more difficult. Can she soldier through and make it?

Making her world even more complicated are the two men in her life. These include Eynon Morton Edwards, the son of Philip. He is a sympathetic figure who was gentle and became her closest friend, but ended up being despised by his father. Then there is the exotic outsider Joe who came from, the result of an unlikely union between an English business man and a Native American squaw.

Lilnos grew up and did her best to cope with running the pottery. At the same time, she is dealing with the hatred from the Morton Edwards family. Her efforts to push her own feelings down seem to be working, as she tries to contend with how she feels about the man who seemed to be her most unlikely suitor.

The result is a wonderful story that is filled with riches, poverty, love and tragedy. Check it out to see what you think.

She is getting married to Joe Mainwaring, and the news of their wedding is filling Swansea, a small sea front town, with tons of gossip.

Joe has always been viewed as an outsider and a foreigner by the elite of Swansea. When Lilnos’s father passes away after having endured a long illness, she feels completely devastated. The grief she is feeling ends up turning over to fear. That’s when Joe is accused of the murder of his father in law by the doctor in town. As a result, he is locked up along with debtors and thieves.

Among the filth and the dirt, Joe ends up making friends with an older man. This sets off a series of events in which the marriage could be destroyed as well as the lives of Lilnos and Joe.
