J.A. Hennrikus is an American author of fiction and the pen name of Julie Hennrikus. She is the author of the Clock Shop Mystery Series, published by Berkley Prime Crime. She says that being able to be a published author of thrillers and mysteries is a dream come true and that seeing her books in bookstores never gets old.

Julie also works as an Executive Director for a theater artist and company service organization called StageSource which operates in the Boston area. She says that theater is what she loves and it is her job and her avocation. She also works teaching arts management classes at the nearby Emerson College in Boston.

Hennrikus is active on her website and enjoys writing fictional novels largely dealing with murder and mystery. Her short stories have been published in the Thin Ice anthology, Dead Calm, and Blood Moon.

Hennrikus says that writing the Clock Shop Mystery series was fun and choosing a pen name to write it under was fairly easy. She says that she was the first grandchild to be born on her mother’s family side, and her parents confided in her grandmother that they were considering naming her Julianne Holmes. Her grandmother said that the name would be too long and that Julie Anne would be better, so that is what she was named. So the J.A. stands for Julie Anne and can always become Julie for short.

She is the author of Just Killing Time, the first in the Clock Shop series, which was published in 2015. She is proud to say that Just Killing Time received a nomination for an Agatha Award in the category of Best First Novel. Her novel Clock and Dagger came out in 2016. The third novel in the series is Chime and Punishment. She says that she hopes her readers will enjoy meeting the character of Ruth Clagan, and that she enjoyed writing her adventures and that hopefully, everyone will like reading about them too!

A Christmas Peril is her first book in the Theater Cop series. It features the character of Sully Sullivan, who runs a theater company and also happens to be a former cop. Hennrikus says that after a long time developing the book, she is happy that it has finally been released and excited to have written a book about something that is close to her heart!

J.A. Hennrikus went on a bog tour to promote the premiere of the book’s publishing, a successful tour that comes on the heels of a fulfilling tour to promote her book Chime and Punishment. She says that currently, her life is like a dream come true! Hennrikus also blogs on the Wicked Cozy Authors blogs with other women and encourages readers to visit. She also blogs regularly on Killer Characters once each month.

Hennrikus thanks all of her fans and readers for their continued support as she works on bringing more novels into the published world for her audience to read. You can find out more about her on Pinterest, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Just Killing Time is the first novel in The Clock Shop mystery series. The main character in this series is Ruth Clagan, a woman who happens to be an expert clockmaker. Ironically, even though she makes clocks she has had a pattern of losing track of time. This can be a problem when you are investigating a murder.

Ruth inherited her love of timepieces from her grandfather, who was also a clockmaker. He and Ruth were very close, but everything changed a bit when her grandmother (his wife) passed away. After that, Grandpa Thom married another woman and the two lost touch. Recently divorced, Ruth wants to reconnect with her grandfather and make up for the lost time. But time, it seems, has run out for both of them in this matter.

The police let Ruth know that he has been discovered dead. Something happened at his shop and there was a break-in, and the authorities think that it was a murder and definitely involved foul play. To make her feel even worse about the fact that they never reconnected and he was brutally murdered, she is named the heir to the Cog & Sprocket, her grandfather’s shop. This small shop is situated in the cozy town of Orchard, nestled away in the Berkshires in the cozy sleepy New England style of these woodsy Massachusetts areas.

Ruth accepts the will and last wishes of her grandfather and takes on the shop. She decides to move into the apartment over the shop and rolls her sleeves up, getting to the unfinished work that must be done. Ruth also tries to get on good terms with Bezel, the gray cat that belonged to her grandfather. She also does her best to avoid the wife of her grandfather.

When secrets from the past come up and grudges start to appear, she’ll have to work even harder to figure out who did this. It seems like the killer will not be stopped, but if no one solves the mystery they may find other victims– including Ruth herself. Pick up this book and see how this exciting mystery novel ends and if Ruth can carry on the legacy of her grandfather through the clock shop and finally start to heal from this tragedy.

Clock and Dagger is the second book in the series. Ruth is back in another installment in this fun mystery series! She’s celebrating the grand opening of the clock shop and throwing a party. Actually, she has three days on hand in order to carry out four events including the re-opening and she doesn’t know how she’s going to do it!

Meanwhile, a new bookstore seems to have opened up. The owner is Beckett Green, and he is causing a lot of commotion by attempting to compete with the other businesses by carrying the same items they do. His goal is clearly to put them out of business and he also is attempting to steal away Mark Pine, the new watchmaker Ruth hired. As if that weren’t enough he is attempting to totally get in the way of her plan to renovate the clock tower for the town. But when Mark is murdered, Ruth needs to find out who did it and won’t stop until they’re caught and in jail. Will she be successful? Check out this book and find out firsthand!
