Shayne Davies is a fox shifter. She technically belongs to the underworld, but there are more powerful and scary creatures there than she could have anticipated. This extends to demons, sorcerers, vampires, werewolves, and fairy creatures.
He even has it pretty bad at home and is not the number one guy in the domain. Her mom is always bothering her and nagging at her about something. Even her proposed mate is just terrible to get along with, and they always have a lot of awkward silences.
Then there’s Shayne, who is supposed to be submissive to the future alpha of the pack. This wouldn’t normally be such a big deal, but it’s a little tougher to do when the future alpha happens to be a six year old. Shayne knows that she needs to switch things up and make some things happen for herself.
Shayne just wants to show that she has what it takes to try and hang with the bigger dogs. That’s why she is always after Nick Gorgeous to try and hire her and take her on at the Detroit division of the Federal Underworld Agency.
Nick thinks that is an easy query to answer, and the answer is no. That’s due to his own personal No Shayne Davies policy, but he might be forced to reexamine his policy when the FUA has to deal with a bunch of criminals and a new messy case.
It seems that things are turning around and the FUA may need some more help when some underworld criminals make off with a ton of bomb materials. No one wants to take on the case at the agency. Worse than that, the FBI has now dispatched an agent to look over the investigation.
Things are getting increasingly bad when the master vampire Henry Stadther is found to be the one with control over what might be the only way to break a human detective. The whole thing is very complicated and getting even more difficult to handle by the second.
Fortunately for Shayne, this has created the perfect atmosphere to bring her on board. Congratulations are in order to the fox shifter, because she’s hired. Can she crack her first case and prove her worth, or will she only crash and burn? Read this book to find out!
Magic in Those Eyes is the second book in the Shayne Davies series by Jackie May. If you loved the first book in the series, then you are going to love this book. They can be read as a stand alone book but does have spoilers from the first three books of the Nora Jacobs series, just so readers know!
Shayne Davies is back once more in the second installment of Jackie May’s fun paranormal series. She was able to get some good work done, taking down the east side demon horde of Detroit. Now she is happy to have found a place that accepts her and where she can do her job.
She is not only officially a field agent for the FUA, she is getting a lot of respect for her position. She has a steady paycheck coming in, a shiny and fancy official badge, and a whole bunch of men who are starting to become very interested in her.
Shayne is making her way up in the food chain of the underworld, something that is no easy accomplishment. Especially when you consider that she is just a regular fox shifter who has come from a group of gypsy hillbillies.
Shayne is only disappointed that she has not been able to add her co-worker to the list of people she has had a liaison with. She has worked with him, shared his home, and thrown herself at him all of the time, and given very clear signals. Still, the detective has not made a move.
The fox shifter is not too worried about forcing a romance. She can tell that her coworker has feelings for her, so that’s not the issue. It just seems that some mysterious thing is holding him back from making a move.
At the same time, Shayne also has larger problems to solve. She runs down an ogre gone feral and that collides with Detective Brenner looking for a serial killer. Suddenly, she’s dug up a plot that involves one of the strongest sorcerer families living in Detroit.
Now Shayne is dealing with being caught between the duty of the agency to protect the underworld’s interests as well as her partner’s mission to get human justice. Can she pick a side if it comes to it? What will Shayne do? Read this paranormal mystery story from Jackie May to find out!
