Janet Sketchley is a Canadian author of faith-based mystery and suspense and daily devotional books. She writes primarily for Christian women but aims to make her books accessible to readers of other (or no) faith. Her goal is to provide engaging stories (or devotions) for real people who integrate their faith with their daily lives. Her fiction is primarily set in Nova Scotia, Canada.
Janet Sketchley’s novels, “Heaven’s Prey,” “Secrets and Lies,” “Without Proof,” “Hidden Secrets,” and “Bitter Truth,” have each been short-listed for Canada’s The Word Awards (mystery/suspense category), and her novel, “Deadly Burden,” won The Word Award in that category in 2024. She is continuing work on the Green Dory Inn Mystery Series as well as releasing updated anniversary editions of the three Redemption’s Edge novels.
In the Green Dory Inn Mystery series, heroine (and reluctant amateur sleuth) Landon Smith is a dyslexic trauma-survivor whose heart pulls her into one mystery after another to help her friends. These stories blend cozy mysteries with Christian women’s fiction, and the series features a slow-growing boy-next-door romance. Readers will best enjoy the books by starting with book 1 to trace the developing friendships and relationships. The books are set near Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, a UNESCO world heritage site.
The Redemption’s Edge series contains three novels of suspense and finding faith: a serial killer and his Christian hostage, his sister pursued by a drug lord, and their cousin trying to expose her fiancé’s murderer. The books can be read as stand-alones or as a chronological series with different characters, situations, and locations. Book 1 is high-stakes suspense (trigger warning); books 2 and 3 are less-intense romantic suspense.
The Tenacity Christian Devotionals books provide heartfelt daily readings and reflections for Christian women. Book 1 covers a full year, and book 2 covers the month of December.
Reads to Remember are fill-in journals for book lovers to record their thoughts and other stats about 100 books. Charts can track favourites, loaned books, etc. The same book comes with two cover options. These books are print-only.
