The author would eventually return to Sweden, coming back when she was a young woman in her twenties. There she was able to attend school and complete her vocational degree in Clinical Psychology. Once she had graduated, Josie relocated to London so that she could go after a career working in publishing. She had dreamed about this ever since she had been a child and would move into fictional worlds when she was young while under the duvet reading books with a light.

Josie would later relocate again and move on to Asia where she was busy looking for a little more adventure and some sun too. She is working at the moment as a freelance book editor in Singapore. She is married and resides there with her husband. They also share two children together.

When Josie was going through training so that she could become a clinical psychologist, she was able to find out more about human nature and explore how complex it is, something that she also looks into as a writer. She also thinks that books about the past have impact and they are able to also change the future, and for that reason she wants to write as many as she can. Her debut novel is titled The Silence in Between.

What if you were to wake up in the morning and to find out that a wall has been erected that is splitting the city in two? It would be even more distressing if you knew that there was a newly born baby trapped on the other side.

This is precisely what was happened to Lisette. It seems that just overnight on August 13, 1961 that the border between East and West Berlin was closed. This simple act suddenly divided the city as well as the world that was watching in two. The streets are dangerous to go down into as they are in total chaos and the armed guards have been given the orders to try and shoot any person who tries to get across. She quickly realizes that the situation has become very desperate.

Lisette has a teen daughter named Elly and they have always had a difficult relationship. She has always attempted to try and figure out the distance that was between her mother and herself. Both of them have always had a passion for music. Elly hears notes all around every person that she meets, but her mother is finding that the music has gone quiet for her.

Her mother was once a talented pianist, and Elly thinks that she might be able to do something else in order to cross the gap that exists between the two of them. What starts as the beginning of an idea develops into something else and then transforms into a plan to get out of East Berlin so that she can track down her baby brother to at last bring him home. What will happen and will she find that her plan has worked? Read this debut from Josie Ferguson to find out!
