K.T. Nguyen is a published author and has worked as a magazine editor.
K.T. spent her childhood growing up in Ohio in a small town. She has since relocated to a new state for a new adventure and resides along with her family in a small town in Maryland. They also share their home with Alice, their rescue terrier. The author loves writing and reading but also doing jigsaw puzzles, doing native plant gardening, and watching the Mets.
She says that no matter who you are, you should be whoever you want to be. She says that women are called to be different people depending on the time, and they transition moving from each day to day and from one minute to the next.
K.T. graduated from Brown University with a degree in art semiotics and has had her writing and features be published in magazines such as Shape, Fitness, and Glamour. She would write at her desk which had a great view of Time Square and would leave to visit the fashion tents at Bryant Park.
When she was in her thirties, she was a working mother and part of the corporate world. She would go from Paris to Shanghai and London to Washington, D.C. and San Francisco. K.T. has taken on a new career as she stepped into her forties writing her very own fiction, and hopes readers will come along with her for the ride.
She writes her own books that she describes as psychological thrillers that offer a cover of glamour, like a Birkin bag. She says that they also give the reader a view of what is inside the bag. The contents all messed up inside become more interesting because they are concealed. These include a facial tissue that could get one more use out of it, painkillers from an old surgery, a phone number that you may be tending to throw out.
The characters that make up the casts of her stories often extend to immigrants of the first or second generation. These include refugees that find that under all of the stories of success and myths of being a model minority, there can be another side of things. Many people understand that there is a trauma that comes along with war that often spills over borders and generations, and often extending even through the most fancy and expensive leather tote bag.
There may be people out there who have lives in reality that are curated as carefully as their feeds on social media. K.T. says that she has not met these types of people and is not certain that she would have to desire to, as they might not be as much fun as she hoped. The author is instead a vocal proponent for the concept of allowing oneself to be messy, to try on the same jeans that they had in college even if they are spilling out of them, and become who they want to be. She says that this is the moment and when it comes to encountering her fifties, she is looking forward to it.

A thriller that will get your heart beating as you turn the page, this is a great read for those who are fans of authors such as Celeste Ng and Lisa Jewell, or those who just want something new, interesting, and satisfying to add to their reading list!
An artist who is first generation Vietnamese and American must end up confronting some serious things both from the past and the present. Main character Annie Shaw, also known as Anh Le, grew up without having very much money. She was poor when she began, but things have massively changed as the years have gone on.
Now Annie has much of what other people dream of. She has a gorgeous home, a wonderful career, a husband who is devoted to her, and a daughter that she cherishes. But she never sees the death of her mother coming and how it will end up turning her life completely upside down.
Her mother was a refugee of the Vietnam War, and passes away suddenly in the night. Just like that, the life that Annie has been slowly putting together begins to fall apart. She thought that she had overcome her obsessive-compulsive disorder years back, but it has returned with a vengeance. Now the things that Annie is thinking about and fixated on may be coming to life.
A patron of the art scene is found to have gone missing. An investigation is launched, and they start looking more closely at Annie. She is experiencing lots of self doubt and begins putting some space between her and her friends and family. She wakes up naked in a hotel room next to a dead body, has no idea how this has come to pass, and knows that she is in trouble.
The cops start asking her more questions. The only thing is, Annie doesn’t have the answers for them. Her mind is starting to become even more fractured, and she knows that when it comes to her daughter, she would do just about anything to try and protect her. That extends to even possibly losing herself in the process.
Annie has found herself in the middle of a situation that she never planned on. She’s going to have to do some serious thinking if she wants to get out of it. This is a well-written thriller as well as an exploration into what the experience of being a refugee is like and the legacies that we work to leave behind for our children, as well as the relationships that exist between daughters and mothers. If you are looking for something completely original to read, pick up a copy of You Know What You Did and enjoy K.T. Nguyen’s fascinating first novel for yourself!
