When she is not busy that she can be found gardening, going into the close by woods for a walk, and learning what real weather entails.
In the Veins of the Drowning is the first book in The Siren Mage series by Kalie Cassidy. This is an engaging fantasy story that will keep you turning the pages to find out what happens.
Main character Imogen Nel has officially gone into hiding. She is hiding herself from a kingdom that is cruel that thinks that Sirens are these monsters who are hungry for blood. Imogen is also hiding herself away from a king and a captain who hunt types like her.
She’s hiding from her abilities, too. Imogen is able to manage things by keeping herself away from the see, which helps to quell her bloodlust. This way, her black wings are hidden under her skin. Then a king comes to visit and Imogen knows that she’s not going to be able to hide in the same way.
For one thing, the king knows exactly what she is. He thinks that she will be of use as she will be able to rescue their kingdoms from a larger monster. The problem is that her power might end up revealing itself as the two make a blood bond that helps to protect the both of them.
They end up running away from the kingdom together and making their way over waters that are filled with the undead. The lines between what they owe to their people and how much they want each other start to dissolve, and as they do Imogen starts to become concerned that her ancestral powers might not be strong enough to take on the thing that is hunting her.
Maybe she might be strong enough to take them on in a fight, but Imogen seriously doubts that she would be able to win it. It turns out that in the end the best way to take a monster down might be to become one. Can she take that risk in order to get the reward or will she find out that it’s a move that she ultimately regrets? Find out by reading the first book in Kalie Cassidy’s series!
In the Wake of the Ruined is the second book in The Siren Mage series by Kalie Cassidy. If you thought that the first book in this fantasy series was great, then be sure to keep the adventure going by getting your hands on a copy of this sequel.
The realm might just have a new queen, but a new monster there too. Imogen is a person that is no longer able to hide. She has taken on her ancestral crown. Now the corrupted bond that she has with Eusia, an ancient deity, seems to be stronger than ever before.
Even though she wants to sever it, taking this on and doing it will not be easy. At the same time, war is looming large in the distance. With alliances shifting, being hungry for magic, and the feelings that Imogen has for Theodore (King of Varya), she’s running into blocks no matter where she goes.
Theodore has a lot on his plate as well. He’s taking on the struggle that comes with wearing the crown and dealing with all of the commitments that come along with his duty. Imogen shows up on his ship and when she does, every promise that he’s made to do his royal duty could be put into danger.
They come closer to ending Eusia and have to deal with plenty of danger along the way. The pair are also going to have to contend with the feelings that they have for each other– something that might end up proving to be the most challenging obstacle of all.
With so much going on, it seems like the worst time possible to fall for someone. But love cannot wait simply because there is so much going on. Can the ruin, chaos and death that Imogen was predicted to bring into this place wind up ending everything? Or will it end up being the start of something completely new? Sometimes, things have to fall apart in order to fall together. Read the second book in this series to find out what happens!
