Christmas Camp is the first book in the Christmas Camp series of fictional novels by Karen Schaler. If you have been looking for a cute romantic story to read that is set during the holiday times, then check out this book!
Main character Haley Hanson has always thought that the best Christmas she could have is one where she gets away to the Caribbean, escaping all the distractions of the holiday and being able to work instead.
She’s done a lot to get higher on the corporate ladder at an advertising agency in Boston, but giving up her personal life was number one. If she can just get a Christmas toy company account, she has the chance to make partner. But Larry, her boss, has other ideas. He thinks she needs to embrace the holidays and decides to send her off to the Holly Peak Inn’s Christmas Camp.
Once Haley gets to the inn on the mountainside, she meets Jeff. He’s the attractive son of the owner. The sparks between them are immediately flying, but Haley backs off internally. She doesn’t want to go after this and somehow lose time when she could be checking off all those Christmas tasks so she can just return to working once more.
Haley is having a tough time with all the activities at Christmas Camp, but eventually starts to find that they aren’t so bad. When she starts to slow down, enjoy the traditional activities, and enjoy the moment, she finds that Christmas is starting to come back to her in spirit and she even starts to find that she is more vulnerable and that there may be place in her heart for Jeff after all.
It seems like things are all set to go well. But then Jeff discovers that Haley’s crafted a plan that could help his father to save the inn, which has been struggling for some time. The only problem with this is that Jeff has been wanting his dad to sell it. The two of them have to figure out whether they can put this to the side and move forward– or whether the Christmas spirit isn’t enough to overcome this divide! What will happen? Read this book to find out!
Finding Christmas is the second book in the Christmas Camp series by Karen Schaler. If you love a sweet romance story that is set during what can be one of the most magical times of the year, you’re going to love this book!
Main character Emmie fell in love with Christmas when she was a child for all of the things about it. She loves all of the twinkling lights that get set up, the decorations put up that glitter, the snow angels you can make, the smell of gingerbread men baking and the way that mistletoe is hung up for fun. It was always one of the things that she cared about the most.
Christmas has rolled around once more, and she’s really excited to share all of the things she loves about Christmas with Grant, her boyfriend. It feels even more special because she thinks that he is the one. But he has a really busy work schedule, and he’s not exactly feeling in the holiday spirit.
Emmie decides that the perfect way to lift him up a little would be to hold a scavenger hunt that is all holiday themed. Then, when he gets to the end, he’ll find himself in Christmas Point. There Emmie has already planned out a weekend away for the two of them where they can do all sorts of activities for the holiday.
But all of the things that she’s planned go wrong when a different guy ends up following the clues. Sam is a mystery writer who thinks his agent has set up the riddles so that he can overcome his writer’s block. Instead of Grant, Sam is the one making his way to Christmas Point.
When Emmie sees him there, she’s shocked it isn’t her boyfriend. But all that Sam sees is a beautiful woman who seems to be something special. Sam wants to stay and gets this new girl to spend some time celebrating the holidays with him as she waits for her boyfriend to show up.
When Grant does finally arrive, he isn’t into the activities as much as she had hoped. Emmie keeps thinking about Sam and the great times that they had. Can the Christmas season show her the way to true love? Read this book to find out!
