Rabbit Hole is the debut fictional novel from Kate Brody. If you have been searching for a new voice in fiction that is original to enjoy, you are in the right place!
A woman who is prone to disaster ends up getting drawn in by conspiracy theories on Reddit, which end up feeding into a developing obsession with solving the cold case disappearance of her older sister.
It was a decade ago that Theodora Angstrom’s older sister Angie went missing. Ten years later, Teddy is still waiting for someone to solve the case. Things have taken a turn for the worse as Teddy’s father Mark has gone and killed himself.
What Mark’s family did not know was that prior to his death, he had been especially active on a Reddit community where he had been fixated on Angie. After finding this out and looking into it, Teddy ends up falling into the same rabbit hole that her father did. But will she endure the same consequences that he did? Can she avoid the mistakes that he made and keep her spirits high while delving into the most difficult situation of her life?
Tempted by the unresolved nature and the promise of closure, Teddy’s home investigation gets her into trouble with her boyfriend (who is a gun nut), her half brother (who is long lost), and her colleagues who work with her at the prestigious high school where she teaches students English.
Making matters even more complicated is the fact that Teddy is starting to become obsessed with Mickey. He’s the amateur sleuth who is cute and charming but also appears to have a vested interest when it comes to helping her solve the case.
Its own interesting tale but also a critique of the voyeurism of the Internet, Rabbit Hole is a character study of a mind that has been affected by grief and a mystery that is addictive as a deep dive on Reddit. Check out this book from Kate Brody for yourself to find out what happens in the end in this outrageous tale you don’t want to miss!
