Sophie is one of the main characters in this story. Sophie Kincaid works hard at her job, where she is the perfect person to help brides track down the ideal dress for their dream wedding. Sophie is slightly underweight and she’s not that tall either, so she’s facing down the age of thirty all while feeling like she is never going to have her own happily ever ending story and she’s going to need a cat or a few more to complete the self-fulfilling prophecy of being a lonely cat lady.

Sophie is used to seeing brides come in and out and go on to their happily ever after ending. Too bad that she’s all but given up on it for herself. But then a ruggedly handsome customer comes into her shop looking for a tuxedo, and Sophie starts to fall for him.

Sophie is wildly attracted to the tall Henry Flynn, who is far too attractive. But she’s not so insane as to believe that he could look back. She believes that when it comes to guys like him, they don’t usually look at a young woman such as herself twice. So she’s not in line to get her hopes up too high.

Then there’s Henry Flynn, who goes by Hank. He’s a detective with the Chicago police department and while he often has a foul mouth, he also knows just about all there can be known when it comes to solving crimes. He is strong, big, and known for being stubborn.

He’s also thirty-five years old, and at this point in his life he doesn’t feel the need for a woman in his life. Unless it’s going to be a one night stand, Hank isn’t interested. He’s been there before and done that. He got married to a spiteful gold digger and has been divorced for years. He still hooks up, but he has no desire to know anything about them. He stays unattached and that’s the way he likes it.

Until one day he walks into a shop so that he can track down a tuxedo for the wedding of his brother. There he finds Sophie, who he finds very attractive. It then just so happens that her tenant turns up murdered. Now Henry finds that he is on a case with the need to solve one murder while also doing his best to prevent a different one.

Even though it should be his job, his real priority since he met Sophie is to keep her safe– and the safest place for her to be, in his opinion, is in his arms. He doesn’t care if she doesn’t believe that she is the type that needs saving, he’s going to protect her and make sure that she is safe no matter what.

Sophie may have such low self worth that she doesn’t think a man like him could ever want her, but she’s wrong. Henry Flynn is falling for this woman, and more than that, is starting to believe that they have been brought together by fate.

That may not make sense, but when it comes to love, what does? For the first time in a long time, Hank is starting to believe that love might come his way. Can he get over his own personal pattern of staying aloof and guarded for the right one? He might just be able to finally open that door and let someone in. Can Sophie believe that she is worthy of love enough to step through the threshold?

Anything’s possible in this sweet romance that seems headed for a happy ending. This book can be read as a stand-alone and is intended for readers who are eighteen years and older.
