Seven different customers who are struggling in one way or another in their lives are about to have a unique opportunity given to them. They are deemed worthy of the chance to get a blanket cat of their own to take home. It’s only going to last for a total of three days, but sometimes that it is all the time that it takes in order to have your life change.

The cats also must go to their homes while being covered in their own distinctive blanket.
In this story, the reader meets seven different customers. Each of them is hoping that by taking a different blanket cat on and home with them, they will be able to find some type of relief from the reality that they are dealing with. This extends to a couple that is having a tough time with infidelity, a woman of middle age who is on the run from the police, and two different families in different circumstances who are looking for their own type of joy.
However, like their kind, the blanket cats are strange creatures who have agendas that are unknowable. No matter what your expectations are, they will delight in confounding them. Then again, the people that are hosting them might not exactly be aware of what they need, either.
While three days is not always enough when it comes to changing a life, sometimes it is enough to change how you see it. Can these cats make enough of a difference and change things around for the people who are charged with caring for them in so short a time? Read The Blanket Cats by Kiyoshi Shigematsu to find out!
