When a strange videotape gives out a warning that the viewer of the type will die in the course of one week unless a certain act that is nonetheless unspecified is performed, it’s cause for concern. But who would possibly take the vague warning of a tape seriously?
Still, it’s tough to argue with the consequences when spooky events come to pass. It turns out that four teenagers end up watching the tape and when one week goes by after having seen it, they all die one after the other. The official cause? Acute heart failure.
One of these victims end up being the niece of a journalist. Asakawa is pained by the strange death of his niece, but the hardworking man is also intrigued by her passing because of how inexplicable it is. The investigation he conducts ends up leading him from a metropolitan Tokyo with all of the fears of society to a rural Japan.
In this place, there also exists a mountain resort, a volcanic island, and a countryside clinic and all of them are haunted by the past. Asakawa had the goal of trying to solve the mystery of the tape and to work fast enough before it is too late for all of them. While he is there, his mission takes on an urgency since he starts to believe that the tape truly is able to deliver a curse and eventually death to those who watch it.
This horror story is full of mystery and twists and turns that will keep you reading all the way through! Be sure to check out the manga as well as the movie based on this book if you enjoyed the concept and continue the journey of one of the most interesting and creative horror stories of the twentieth century.

Dr. Ando has yet to get over the death of his son, which happened at sea. He’s been doing his best to recover but with not a lot of luck. He conducts an autopsy on an older friend who has passed away under unusual circumstances.
The corpse belongs to Ryuji Takayama, a cynical philosophy professor, and he believes that it has something to tell him. But he’s not the only one who makes a reappearance in this story.
No one knows what the ring is yet, and if they’re lucky, they’ll never find out. The terms of the spooky videotape’s curse go through a reconfiguration in this book that will have readers’ jaws on the floor. Here is a reinvention of the bestselling story that is revealed in a sequel that solidifies Koji Suzuki as a master of horror.
