Laura Wood is a best-selling published author.
She has won the Montegrappa Scholastic Prize in the category of New Children’s Writing in 2014.
Laura Wood is known for her Poppy Pym series as well as her Vote for Effie series and the Agency for Scandal series. She has also written several stand alone books, including A Sky Painted Gold, Under a Dancing Star, and more.
Laura attended the University of Warwick where she graduated with her PhD in the subject of 19th century literature.

Main character Isobel Stanhope is 18 years old, and she keeps a lot of secrets to herself. She knows that she has fallen all the way in love with a Duke, the same one that has no idea that she even exists out there. There is also the fact that her family doesn’t have any money to their name but they have managed to keep that information among themselves and no one in society has yet caught on.
Izzy also has a job at the Aviary. This is an investigative agency run totally by women. They specialize in looking into powerful men and being able to dig up some scandal successfully. But Izzy may get more than she bargains for when she discovers that she is being drawn into a case that involves missing jewels but also plenty of gaslighting and blackmail.
The case also involves the Duke, the same man who unknowingly is the object of all of her affection. Now she must work with her friends to try to get to the bottom of this network of lies and secrets to get to the bottom of the truth so that the innocent can be protected.

This encounter ends up taking her to the Aviary. This is an all-female secret agency who have a specialty when it comes to looking into troublesome men and blackmailing them.
