Let’s start by stating that author Lauren Weisberger is the author, who wrote a book that broke enough records to get translated into a Hollywood flick. She even got lucky with Meryl Streep stepping into the shoes of her tyrannical boss while Anne Hathaway played her part for the film by the same name.

Yes, you have guessed it right. Lauren Weisberger is the very same author who shot to instant stardom with her very first book – The Devil Wears Parada. A dream come true for any new author. Right? Well, Weisberger, definitely had lady luck on her side when she took the plunge into novel writing.

She maintains that a March born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, she became even more chic by the first office she worked at.

Her personal life

Lauren Weisberger, was born into a Jewish family in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Her mother was a school teacher while her dad was a mortgage broker. A believer of conservative Judaism, Weisberger, spent her early life at Pennsylvania’s Clarks Summits. Unfortunately, when she was only 11, her parents got divorced and she moved on with her sister to live with their mother.

A young lady, she attended the Parkland High School, Allentown,. She was an active in sports activities and extra curricular activities. She went on to do her graduation from New York’s Cornell University.

As a fresh graduate, Weisberger, was in for a rude shock when began working as an assistant to Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of Vogue. She had joined vogue after her dream vacation – backpacking across the world. Her experience with Wintour was so bad that she quit within ten months. And she penned down her experience to make the main plot for her fictionalized novel – Devil wears Prada. She began writing the novel when she was with Departures Magazine.

Her new boss, was really nice and encouraged her to write. He even referred her to a friend when she expressed her interest in creative writing. Between writing reports she managed to pen down at least 15 pages a day to finish her novel on time.

Some of her works

Her first novel, Devil wears Parada, went on to become a bestseller and there has been no looking back for her since then.

Post her first novel, Weisberger has also authored Everyone Worth Knowing, Last Night at Chateau Marmont and Revenge Wears Prada. She has also penned several short stories like The Bamboo Confessions.

The Devil Wears Prada

As mentioned earlier, this dishy novel of Weisberger narrates the tale of Andrea Sachs, a small-town girl, who gets a dream job, immediately after her college gets over. However, working as an assistant to the country’s most high profile and successful editor of one of the top most fashion magazine, Sachs is in for her worst nightmare come true.

Trapped in a work environment that is limited to premium fashion brands and wafer thin, super stylish ladies, owning the most expensive wardrobe in the city, Sachs finds herself in a situation where her boss can send her back home, whining like a kid.

The book with all its humour and punches was loved by the readers, who found it to be like an open window to a premium fashion magazine’s newsroom. It gave away all the juicy details and agony that a reporter goes through if she has a boss like hers, who keeps demanding the impossible. Right from being asked to get a copy of Harry Potter, which is yet to make it to the stores,to running off to take care of her boss’s kids to even serving lattes.

The story here is about how Sach discover herself, or rather decides to not do things that dent her self esteem just for the sake of her job’s safety.

The book became a huge success and was even adapted into a Hollywood film by the same name. Century Fox has even taken the rights to produce a tele-series on the same. But that is yet to happen.

Chasing Harry Winston

This novel tells the story of three best friends – Emmy, who has been recently dumped by her fiancée just before her wedding. Interestingly, he chose to go with his personal trainer, who was under her payroll.

The second character is that of Leigh, who is into publishing and is really close to getting both – her dream job and dream man. Add to that getting her own apartment, life looks all set for her to take off till Jesse Chapman walks into her life and her life goes for a toss.

The third character is Adriana, daughter of supermodel, who is all set to enter her thirties and is yet to tie the knot.

These three, are perfect best buddies that anyone can dream of. The story is about how each of them deal with their own personal crisis, dream for a better tomorrow and get what they set their eyes own, all the while, supporting each other.

The Singles Games

This is the latest book authored by Weisberger. It’s a dishy novel that tells the story of a tennis prodigy, who makes it to the headlines for reason both on and off the court.

The story is about Charlotte and how her life changes when she hires the country’s best tennis groomer. But then she is the first female trainee of his and he is hell bent on change her good girl image both on and off the court. His aim is to transform her into a winner who can go that extra mile to give her best on the court and do anything to be in the news.

If in her first novel she brought the behind the scene tale of a newsroom, then here she explores all the gory details of the tennis world – Right from US Open to the Wimbledon. The tale here also is the tale of self discovery, of Charlotte, as to what she actually wants from life – name, fame and money. Or is it something else, which will like always come at a price. But then is Charlotte ready for it?
