Linda Green is a British published author.
She has written over a dozen novels and have sold over a million copies of her books in the U.K. Foreign rights of her books have been sold in fifteen territories. She was 9 years old when she wrote her first novella but admits that the pony-based time travel thriller genre never quite took off.
Linda wrote her first novel 20 years down the line. She made it through multiple rejections from agents before she was able to land her first big book deal. Linda is a journalist who has not only won awards but has written for publications such as The Big Issue and The Guardian. She is also a creative writing tutor who has worked with students of all ages.
Her first publication was when she was 13 years old. Her Ode to Gary Labbutt won her the second prize in a writing competition. She won the Junior Spurs Football Reporter of the Year Competition at 15 years old and got the chance to report on a first division football match from the press box at White Hart Lane.
When she was 16 she started on A levels and a journalism course at De Havilland College, Hertfordshire. Her college magazine interview focusing on football hooliganism with David Evans, the local MP and football club chairman, ended up making a double page spread in Shoot! Magazine and back page headlines in different national newspapers.
Linda also joined the Enfield Gazette as a trainee reporter when she was 18 years old. She worked for over 10 years in regional journalism as a reporter on the Birmingham Daily News. She was also a news editor on the Birmingham Metro News and a Chief Feature Writer on the Coventry Evening Telegraph. She won Highly Commended in the Feature Writer of the Year category in the 1997 Press Gazette Regional Press Awards.
Linda says that she liked working on regional newspapers but her features were getting long by 1998 and she wanted to write a novel too badly. She decided to leave her staff job so that she could write her first novel and also work as a freelance journalist. Linda has written for a variety of publications such as The Guardian, The Independent on Sunday, The Big Issue, The Times Educational Supplement, Wanderlust, and Community Care Magazine. Green also had a short story published in Best magazine.
Linda found writing and working for home to be very solitary so she also found time to work as the coordinator of the Birmingham Bureau of Children’s Express, a national charity. She also taught journalism to school children at the National Academy of Writing.
When the author moved north in 2001, she ended up qualifying as an adult education tutor. She taught creative writing classes to students of all ages for the Workers Educational Association. She would get many rejections for agents for her first novel before finally landing one but was unable to get a publisher. She would later get a new agent and a two-book deal with a publisher.
Green continues to be interested in topics such as the news, politics, and current affairs. She has made appearances on Radio 5 Live, Newsnight, Radio Four’s Woman’s Hour, and BBC News. She also took former PM David Cameron to task on Leadership Question Time in 2015. She loves to travel and has been to Borneo, the Arctic Circle, and Tierra del Fuego.
Linda was born in 1970 in North London and raised in Hertfordshire. She is married and resides in West Yorkshire along with her husband.

Sometimes when it comes to secrets, even those that are so deeply buried can eventually make their way to the surface– much to the dismay of others at times. Such is the case for main character Nicola, who is with her grandmother in the moments before she passes. In that time, Betty tells her that there are babies located at the bottom of the garden. Then poof, she’s gone.
When Nicola asks her mother about it, she says that her grandmother was just speaking nonsense. Nicola goes along with this somewhat because it’s an easier answer and it seems plausible. Then her daughter finds a bone while playing in her grandmother’s garden, and the secret that she whispered before passing seems to hold more weight than ever.
It’s more apparent to ever to Nicola that there is a high likelihood that something sinister went down. But what is it exactly? And could this just be some type of coincidence still, a relic from someone else and some other incident? Nicola does not want to dig up painful family secrets, but unfortunately her daughter innocently digging in the garden has already done that.
Can Nicola preserve what is left of her family or will they find that the secrets end up pulling them apart? Read this book from bestselling author Linda Green to find out what happens!
