Lisa Samson
Lisa Samson is a Christy Award winning author, including the Women of Faith Novel of the Year “Quaker Summer”.
Lisa is all about food, art, reading, family, God, friendships, writing, meditation, and especially getting together with humans that want to love more every day and make the world a better place. Hope, healing, and love are things that she tries offering to the planet. Lisa has three grown kids that she absolutely adores.
“Indigo Waters” is the first novel in the “Shades of Eternity” series and was released in 1999. She is the heir to her dad’s wine fortune, amassed over more than a generation of labor out in the vineyards of Champagne, France. However even though the vast holdings of the family estate belong to Sylvie de Courcey, her future doesn’t. Her betrothal to handsome Count Rene de Boyce has been planned out for her since childhood, which is an arrangement that she knows nothing about, until her heart’s been given to another man.
Even while she struggles with a wrenching decision between loyalty and love, this deeper secret tightens its invisible tendrils in a stranglehold on both of their families. Rooted in French underworld, its fruit soon ripens into extortion, murder, and betrayal. There is one person that stands between Sylvie and the evil which closes in on everyone and the man that Sylvie loves the most, and cannot afford to love at all.
Set in France, Scotland, and England during the mid-1800s, this novel weaves romance, unforgettable characters, suspense, and surprising twists in a novel of unquenchable faith.
“The Church Ladies” is a stand alone novel that was released in 2001. Competition for church members in Mount Oak has just hit a furious peak. When tragedy strikes one of their hometown sons, the church women are pulled together through their compassion.
The Church Ladies is a contemporary story which illustrates just how women can have a major impact on the church. Through friendships which reach under the surface level, and trials which are more severe than simple, they unite with common purpose: to share, pray, and comfort.
Slowly, this community of believers learns that the church grows when it’s rooted in love. Characters that you will cry and laugh along with, in situations that every woman is going to instantly relate to, light up a page turner about a miracle which could happen anywhere.
“Women’s Intuition” is a stand alone novel that was released in 2002. Lark Summerville’s life has got a few surprises, and that is how she likes it. All that she wants is to live out her angst-riddled life in her blue-collar neighborhood in Baltimore, punctuated by weekly trips to her local parish, where Lark’s the organist, and phone conversations with desperate souls that dial her hotline at 1-777-IPRAY4U.
This one night, Lark’s home gets destroyed by a fire, which forces her outside of her comfortable nest and back to the childhood home that she has been avoiding for years now. At Stoneleigh House, Lark is surrounded by three incredibly different women: Prisma Percy (housekeeper and family confidante), Flannery (her grown daughter), and Leslie (her barely tolerable socialite mom). All of whom believe that Lark was widowed years ago.
In this group of women, her carefully constructed existence starts unravel, even while the promise of a new one begins to unfold. However once her contrite ex-husband shows back up, longing to assume his role as Flannery’s dad, 20 years after his desertion, Lark finds that she has to face her own lies, and her past, before a new life can ever unfold.
“Tiger Lillie” is a stand alone novel that was released in 2004. Always the wedding coordinator, but never the bride.
Fifteen years after the mysterious disappearance of Ted, her childhood sweetheart, Lillie Bauer (gutsy and daring) is a bungee jumping, book addict, and delightfully offbeat coordinator of ‘extreme’ high-concept weddings. Now she’s ready for love again. But while she boldly yet reluctantly braves this disastrous dating scene in her quest to find herself a husband, quirky Lillie has been caught between two contrasting images of married life: the lifelong and rich partnership that her parents share and the troubled marriage that Tacy, her little sister, has.
Faced with long buried feelings, fears for Tacy, and some concerns about her dad’s failing health, Lillie finds some strength in this peculiar and unlikely community of loved ones, which includes Pleasance (this sassy African-American clothing designer), Cristoff (her epileptic florist business partner), and Erzsebet (Lillie’s strong Hungarian Grandma). However once she stumbles on this danger which threatens the people she loves most, she’ll need more than just family and friends, she’ll need a miracle.
“Club Sandwich” is a stand alone novel that was released in 2005. Do you know what it’s like to give 100% and still feel as though it’s now, and you’re not, enough for anyone? To get caught between caring for an aging parent and raising young kids. Lisa herself lived there in that position for 4 years.
Ivy Schneider’s living in that place too, and she’s not too happy about it. Rusty, her husband, spends 10 months out of the year on the road singing in this gospel quartet, and her mother gets sicker with each day that passes, requiring that much more time and care. Ivy’s father ran off years ago yet still comes around, for some free meals. Her sister and brother are more than happy to allow responsibility to firmly rest on Ivy’s shoulders. She could possibly handle it better if only Trixie, her darling 3 year old terror, would just ‘go’ on the potty. Who is going to take care of Ivy as she’s taking care of the world?
Seems like nobody. Then Ivy runs an ad in the paper so she can find folks just like herself: women of the ‘sandwich generation’, squeezed between raising young kids and caring for an aging parent. Before long, Ivy and the women of Club Sandwich are building some uncommonly deep friendships, witnessing the reality that in fact no woman can be everything to everyone, and seeing firsthand that they can do so much more than they had imagined possible with help from one another and with a strong dose of faith.
