Each novel of this series features the lead protagonist in the role of Christina McMullen. She is depicted as a psychotherapist with a private practice in Los Angeles. The other essential characters mentioned in the novels include Jack Rivera, Elaine, Laney Butterfield, Pete McMullen, Micky Goldenstone, Dr. Mal, Hiro Jonovich Danshov, etc. Jack Rivera is depicted as a homicide detective and works to solve mysterious cases with the assistance of Christina McMullen. The debut book of this series is entitled ‘Unzipped’. It was released in 2005 by the Dell publication. The book opens by depicting Chrissy McMullen as going through a career leap. Previously, she used to serve drinks at the most notorious nightclub of Chicago, but now, she has set up her psychotherapy practice in L.A.

Chrissy is not able to shed her too-curvy, too-loud alter ego. Even her family keeps brawling and insisting her to claim kinship. When Chrissy McMullen’s most popular client, football star Bomstad, tries to get her in bed, she becomes miffed. But, things take a shocking turn when he is found lying dead at Chrissy’s feet. The case lands on the desk of Jack Rivera, who doesn’t appreciate any nonsense and has a grim attitude. Jack Rivera shows the determination to prove that Chrissy is somehow involved in the murder of Bomstad. And even Chrissy repeatedly pleads that she has not killed her client, Jack does not listen to her. After she becomes fed-up of all the sincere requests and pleadings, Chrissy McMullen decides to look into the matter on her own. She begins to look for the possible suspect with the use of her street smartness, sex appeal, and wit. Jack Rivera begins to trust her when she finds with some important evidence that proves that a gruesome killer is roaming freely on the streets of the city. Together, they go on to catch the killer and solve the Bomstad murder case.

Another excellent novel of this mystery series is called ‘Unscrewed’. It was also published by Dell in 2007. Initially, it is mentioned that Chrissy McMullen finds detective Jack Rivera very attractive. He has everything to make women fall in love with him. His killer body, velvet touch, and wicked smile are enough to cause an irresistible attraction. Chrissy has handled love-struck drunks, obsessed patients, and her guilt-tripping mom, but she has never seen someone like Jack River. But, when he gets charged with murder, the story takes a fatal turn. The police had found Jack lying unconscious beside the dead body of a woman, who was his former girlfriend. Then, it is revealed that Jack’s ex-girlfriend had left him to be with his wealthy father and Jack is suspected to have killed her for betraying his love. Chrissy also begins to see him as the culprit because of the numerous evidence against him. But, as soon as she starts investigating the past life of the victim, she realizes that Jack Rivera is not only innocent, but has been framed. Chrissy goes on to find some useful evidence to prove the innocence of her love interest after which they set themselves on the trail of the real killer.
