“Satan’s Lambs” is the first novel in the “Lena Padget” series and was released in 1993. Lena Padget was a mild-mannered graduate student in this quiet Kentucky town up until her sister got brutally murdered, and it all change. Over the 7 years that the murderer’s been in prison, Lena’s honed her anger to a razor’s edge, working as a private investigator for women that were too afraid to help themselves.

However with her sister’s murderer now out of prison, and high on the twisted beliefs of the religious cult who raised him, she’s suddenly her own most desperate client. Lena could give any of the toughest chicks in mystery fiction a run for their money, even some of the guys. Even though she might not carry a gun, she packs a deadly baseball bat. However on this go-round, she will need every weapon in her arsenal in order to avoid becoming another lamb to the slaughter.

“Satan’s Lambs” won a Shamus Award for Best First PI Novel in 1994.

“Flashpoint” is the first novel in the “Sonora Blair” series and was released in 1986. Cincinnati homicide detective Sonora Blair is hunting this serial killer that plays with fire.

Sonora Blair is a single mom of two and a police specialist with the Cincinnati Homicide Division. She’s still wide awake during the middle of the night when she gets the call. Mark Daniels has just been found in Mount Airy Forest having been handcuffed to the steering wheel of his car, doused with some accelerant, and then set on fire. While the hideously burnt college student lies dying in the ER, he describes his killer: female, blond, and is a total stranger. However Mark might not have even been the intended victim.

Evidence is pointing to this sexual fixation on Keaton, his elder brother and a teacher that’s currently separated from his wife. Then the killer, who’s been dubbed “Flash” by the media, calls Sonora up one night, mocking her. While the investigation continues heating up, the harassment continues too. The female psychopath knows some intimate details all about Sonora’s past and her family. While the criminal’s monstrous plans get chillingly obvious, Sonora has to risk it all in order to corner this cunning murderer.

“Eyeshot” is the second novel in the “Sonora Blair” series and was released in 1995. Sonora Blair (Cincinnati homicide detective) is plunged into a case with this high profile suspect, and there’s a chilling connection to an unsolved murder.

There are certain moments that Sonora Blair hates being a cop. For example, the day that Butch Winchell (distraught husband and dad of two) comes to the Cincinnati PD in order to report his wife missing. This mutilated corpse has been discovered along Interstate 75 between Tennessee and Kentucky, and the body parts just might belong to Julia Winchell.

Eight years earlier, during Julia’s time at the University of Cincinnati, she witnessed this murder. Once the body vanished, nobody believed her. However Julia never did forget about it, and had been compiling notes and articles that’d point the finger at this shocking suspect.

District Attorney Gabe Caplan is Cincinnati’s golden boy, this champion of the underdog, defender of law and order, and a man that’s shadowed by his tragic past. Eight years ago, his pregnant wife got brutally murdered, leaving their 2 year old daughter behind. Now Gabe’s close to scoring a major victory in a high profile case. Sonora’s gut is telling her that these 2 murders are connected, however can she possibly prove it when she is up against this DA that knows how to work the system, and whose current pregnant wife might just be in mortal danger?

“The Beautiful Risk” is the first novel in the “Junie Lagarde” series and was released in 2023. It was a tragic accident. Her husband died in this plane crash on Mount Blanc. These are the simple facts. But somebody is not telling the truth.

Junie Lagarde (a brilliant forensic accountant and passionate guitarist) has spent nine months of sorrow and grief, and has finally begun accepting life without Olivier, her beloved husband, who was a climate-change expert and French safety consultant. She lost him in a tragic plane crash over Mount Blanc. If she could’ve just found her loyal hearing-dog Leo, who ran off in the horrifying aftermath of the crash, right before she had to return back home to America. But then she gets this unexpected call from France.

Capitaine Phillippe Brevard, the man that’s in charge of investigating Olivier’s death, has just seen recent CCTV footage that shows Leo being held by this man that closely resembles Olivier, right down to the man’s distinctive jacket.

It isn’t Olivier. It just cannot be, can it? However who is this man, and what else could Capitaine Brevard be hiding from her? She knows that she has to go to Chamonix, rescue her dog, and uncover the full truth. However there are men that mean her harm, and she is learning these dangerous secrets. Secrets which will shake her faith in her closest friends and put more than her own life in the gravest of danger.
