Maggie Aderin-Pocock is an accomplished published author, a Dame, and a doctor with a PhD. She can be described as a space scientist and someone who has a passion for presenting science to a general audience while showing that you don’t have to be super smart in order to enjoy science or to understand and participate in learning it.

Maggie studied at Imperial College. It was there that she graduated with her degree in physics and a Ph.D. in the field of mechanical engineering. She has also spent a lot of her career making novel bespoke instrumentation in environments both academic and industrial. This extends to doing work on the James Webb Space Telescope in addition to different satellites that monitor climate change.

Wanting to do more to share with others and ignite in them the same passion that she has for science, Maggie decided that she would found Science Innovation Ltd. in 2004. She used this company to conduct public engagement activities and to share her love of space while also working to encourage under-represented communities to take up STEM. She has spoken to over a half a million people all over the world in pursuit of this goal.

In addition to public speaking, Maggie is a television presenter who has been nominated for a Bafta. She has been the co-host of the television program The Sky at Night, the world’s longest-running science television show.

She is an author as well, writing nonfiction books as well as books for her children such as “Am I Made of Stardust”, which won her a Royal Society book prize. She would also go on to receive the Institute of Physics gold medal for her work, specifically her exceptional services to science education and physics communication.

Maggie has been the President of the British Science Association. She also is the Chancellor at the University of Leicester. In 2023, she was made a Dame as part of the New Year’s Honours list.

You can take a tour of all of the eighty-eight constellations through this book and also look into the culture, the science, the history and the romanticism behind all of these celestial bodies. This is a handbook that is a must have if you are a beginning stargazer or just anyone who is fascinated with the night sky and is looking for a little more wonder to add to their life.

The author will work with the reader and show them how to identify stars. She’ll also teach the basics of observing with the naked eye, showing readers how they can use this approach to look at the stars. She also offers up various facts as well as advice on dark sky locations, kit, and more.

On top of that, there are also tons of gorgeous illustrations that go along with each of the constellations and a sky map that is very easy to read. The night sky comes alive through this fascinating book that is guaranteed not only to educate, but to entertain, too!

Webb’s Universe: The Space Telescope Images That Reveal Our Cosmic History is a book by Dr. Maggie Aderin-Pocock. This is the definitive book on the James Webb Space Telescope, and has wonderful images from it that will surely inspire you just as much as they impress.

There have been many advances when it comes to space technology, especially in the past few decades. Despite this, a lot of the universe can be a constant source of mystery. It often comes with more questions than it does answers.

NASA was looking to follow up more on the findings of the Hubble telescope. It was launched in 1990 and NASA then launched the James Webb Space Telescope in 2021. The intention was to study each phase of the history of the universe.

The first clear images of the universe using the infrared technology came out in July of 2022. In the process, it would endlessly change the way that everyone sees our existence and understands its origins.

Dr. Maggie was one of the first British space scientists that had the unique chance to work on Webb, being able to bring her own unique expertise when it comes to spectroscophy to the NIRSpec camera element of the telescope.

She is able to bring her passion, her knowledge of space and the telescope to life through these pages. Dr. Maggie shows the reader these beautiful images but also takes away the mystifying nature of them. She goes into the science behind each picture to clearly depict what it is that the reader is seeing as well as learning from the most powerful space telescope in the world.

Get a copy of this book to personally find out all that she has to say and maybe even learn a little bit more about the universe that is all around us and the science that is behind it! Check out Webb’s Universe: The Space Telescope Images That Reveal Our Cosmic History to find out more.
